What jet need?

Hello, I have a DT 125 x 2006 with newly rebuilt engine.

carbon reeds, 57mm cylinder, DEP exhaust with main jet 220 and pilot jet _ 27.5.

I want to remove the snorkel and restrictor bottle next to the carburetor.

what jets need?

Bottle on near the carb is not a restrictor. leave it on.

The jets don't need to be removed and removing the snorkel adversely affects performance.

So in my opinion, 210 main jet is standard on the RE's and X's. 240 main jet was standard on the older DTR's but you will not notice any difference in performance with that setup. Dep even say use 210 main jet.

Better with the snorkel and yes that's the bottle. Keep it in. If you want advice or pointers on where to start tuning then fire me a PM. I've tuned this bike to death and to be know what works well and what's added extra.

Removing the snorkel has nothing what so ever to do with the topend main jet they run fine at the topend with the snorkel out they just bog a bit lowend and midrange cause they are getting more air in the mixture, it doesn't adversely affect performance at all infact it will improve it if you dial the midrange and bottom end fuelling in with the airscrew and needle clip positions and possibly a pilot jet change.  Its trial and error till you get it right just like fitting Ledar power nozzles back in the day.

The snorkel provides a smooth flow of air. The sharp edges of the box causes turbulence in the air flow. Okay you are talking absolute minimal but in terms of racing it all adds up. I'm sure I read that GP bikes run air boxes with snorkels

Basically more air and fuel in more power. Most 2stroke mx bikes don't even have a top on the airbox never mind a snorkel not like a 4stroke. Its only there to let air into the sealed airbox on a DT to set the carb for power properly it needs to go.

The fuelling is funny on these, like the deltabox frame TDR125,s use the same carb as a DT with totally different set up, a bigger airbox and a 270 main. Try one on a DT and it will overfuel like mad and dround the thing 3 quarter throttle on.

Must remember to keep the DT carb on the DT then when I swap my engines over!
