Gas Gas are cool my mate has an 07 EC300 he's had it for years never misses a beat. I think Honda Suzuki and Kawasaki should all bring 2stroke MX bikes back.

Thing is they will reach their limit with the 4 strokes, and then i think they will come crawling back to the 2's...

Yeah, if you want a 2stroke MX its Yamaha KTM or Husqvarna and the Husky is just a KTM with slightly different plastics and a different colour I don't even know if you can still get a TM but they aint that popular anyway.

Im a fan in general of them all YZ,s RM,s KX,s CR,s the lot...........

When I bought my RM125 new in 07 the only reason was it had the biggest tank of all the 125 mx bikes and I needed the tank as big as possible and the dealers were selling them very very cheap for some reason. I road registered it fitted lights loom new generator trail tech etc and still had change from the price of a newish EXC125 but you always know where you stand with a new bike and I wanted something a little bit different to alternate with my 525EXC.

However there is something to be said about the quality of the parts that KTM fit to there bikes as stock from new.

Genuinly think the yz looks the nicest. Still not a fan of the tanks on the ktms, yeah you can see the fuel level but its not worth the sacrifice in looks.

KTM SX MX bikes have Black tanks, only the enduro,s have clear tanks. The YZ still looks old fashioned I think but its still a great bike but I still like the older design bodywork better looks wise. Like all things new it will probably grow on me.

Thats what bike i wanted for ages, i wonder how its power compares to a 250f considering 250f's are suppose to be on par with 125's??

He impulse bought it when we started getting into motocross so he never really rode it to the level it was capable of but when I put in a few laps it changed my riding completely. Me and him were about the same level but after riding my 01 YZ125 for while and then jumping on his sx150 I could tell I was much quicker round the track than on the yz.

I'll post a vid up tomoz, it was WET, slipping all over the place

I was running the full pro circuit exhaust system, but i found it was all topend so it was real hard in the wet, chucked the stock silencer on it balanced out the power better, im thinking of putting the stock expansion chamber back on see if that helps add bottom/mid, last thing i want is more topend lol

If it's that bad then maybe it HAS been ported lmao! Any porting work to an already off the head ported barrel IS only going to give silly peak power. ( I say that cause I was a little skeptical of the porting work described)_

You may find it better to get a stock barrel and run the pro circuit pipe on that mate. Then when you get used to it bang the ported barrel back on

Ha i think your right bro, i cba to change the barrel atm i think, but do you reckon the stock expanny will dull out the peak power further??

On a normal cylinder yes, on a ported cylinder....probably not, it could just make it worse. But no harm in trying.

The pipe will determine what frequency the pressure wave needs to be that forces more fuel and air back into the chamber. The raised exhaust port shifts the rpm up that will create this wave. So by that logic a pipe which needs a lower frequency shouldn't be affected by the exhaust port other than the rpm shift.

The fella says the carb has been jetted out to the pro circuit exhaust, i think i'll just leave it as is atm with the stock silencer on, i will judge when it gets abit drier, whenever that will be lol probably next summer

Yeah well jets only take two minutes to change. Especially on a crosser where a different track can mean a different atmospheric pressure which in turns means different jetting lol.

Yeah, it's a problem on carb engines, two strokes in particular. The EFI counter part can adjust accordingly, but because the carb is always going to be static, it cannot compensate for this measure. Roll on EFI two strokes is my verdict haha!

Stick a flywheel weight on the RM for a bit smoother power lower down or a carb manifold spacer, if your not oiling plugs up and your plug looks OK topend and its sweet in the power you could try lifting the needle clip up one to lean the midrange out a bit. I run my XC 250 set up like an MX bike with a weak powervalve actuator spring and the mad ignition map for a mad powerband and instant topend power, the complete opposite of most enduro riders but I love the big topend power and the 250 2stroke can lug it bottomend as well as a 4stroke when you getem set up.
