Just like the bike in its stages and not the final piece.
Looks good though.
I didn't rate the Athena kit. It's port timings are way out. But if you're going to all this effort, it would be well worth getting a specialist to correct the port timings
Yer it will be getting ported at some point I'm currently porting a 125 lump that's going in a supermoto build I'm doing ,I've got five barrels and a lot of reading and trial and error to go through to get it right but I want to learn so it's got to be done and the bikes far from finished ,still a lot more I want/have to do and yer I'll try get some more photos of the whole build process tomorrow✌
The Athena it wasn't so much the porting, although it definitely could benefit from a bit, it's the fact that the barrel was modeled on a DT200R barrel. And as such it needs some material shaving off the top and then a spacer placed on the bottom. Just wants everything raised a few mm.
Sure thing, and a lot of money to be spending on an old YZ. But hey I spend lots of money on old DT,s and everyone to there own as they say. As long as your enjoying it and having fun doing it................... that's what its all about.
Yz engine no good for greenlaning ,you have to constantly rag the **** of them ....it started. Off me having a dt and loving it but seeing as I only used it for greenlaning I noticed the suspension, brakes and weight was not good so I decided to build this .....and yes I could of probably gone out and bought a ktm or something but where's the fun in that I enjoy building ...I've spent over 4k and intend to spend more just because I can and the feeling of knowing I built it is much better than just picking one out the shop
P.s I've still got love for the dt lol that's why I'm building a 1992 supermoto for the road ...I shall document it all and post it on here for all you to see ... Still trying to get some photos together for this build ...they where all on my laptop and it decided to die but I think I've got a few somewhere :)
Started life with gas gas forks rear shock swingarm and wheels but the swingarm and shock was just to much of a bodge to fit so I ended up getting a yzf 250 shock swingarm and linkage which was a straight fit :) then decided I might as well get a shiny new back wheel :) (profile pic)
Nothing wrong at all with the YZ125 engine for greenlining whatsoever you just need to set them up for enduro, give them a bit of bottom end fuelling gearing flywheel weight etc done loads YZ,s RM,s CR,s etc
Oh ok cheers dude ,not very good with computers ha ......don't get me wrong the Yz is a good motor but I just find they have no bottom end and are not very good for my type of riding ..never tryed one with those mods Thoe so couldn't say ...I just like the dt motor and I've got 3 engines and five barrels that I've collected over the years so jus made sense to use what I have and know :)
Haha fair play dude ,I'm running a standard Yz expansion chamber and a Dep end can ,I had to make a stub from and old Dtr exhaust and dent it slightly to clear the oil pump cover ....I'm ordering a fmf fatty soon ;).........I know of another guy who's built one ,I met him on the Dtr Facebook page ...I'll try find some pics
Is there 2 types of cables ?because mines the same and that's the only way it will go and does anyone know if rd 350 ones will fit because I need longer ones due to having to mount them somewhere on the Yz frame
yer dt engine with Athena top end ...Had to drill cases for swingarm bolt ..cut off Yz front mounts and weld new ones and make some mounts up for the head to frame ...it's got a 32mm mikuni flatslide with a 250 main...ordering a fmf fatty soon so probably going to have to mess around with jets again

No the cables are the same on all DT125R,s the left one is slightly shorter than the right one part numbers 3BN-1133E-00 and 3BN-1133F-00 the part numbers are superseded to 3RM- from 99 but the cables are identical. If yours is crossed over the same then its definitely wrong, the short cable goes on the left of the servo to the left of the pulley wheel and the long cable goes on the right of the servo to the right of the pulley wheel and it the same on all DT125R, I dunno about the RD cables but if they will physically fit the servo and the pulley wheel then you should not have a problem fitting them
Scrim I'm pretty sure the 3rm and 3bn are different lengths. I had a few sets of both a while back and found that 1 set was longer than the other. I cant remember which way round it was though.
Possibly mate. If they are its mm,s in it Andy and both would work either way as long as the short cable goes to the left and the long cable goes to the right as they say. Ive probably mixed and matched them before when ive needed them and used whatever ive had laying around at the time.
And sam yer a little bit when it was a 125(didn't test it with servo connected Thoe ) as soon as I put the 170 kit on it was sweet but I'm still mucking around with exhausts ,don't know wether to get one made or modiffy a fmf fatty
