Aprillia shamillia lol...................... KTM EXC125 OR Husaberg TE125 Just to throw a spanner in the works

Not at all Scrim. Bloody quality machines. Just as you would expect. Austrian built fantastic engine. Over engineeres as the Austrians do.

With their bikes built brilliantly. Aluminium swingArm. Race spec ally frame (rs125). Four pot front callipers twin rears. Ingenious restrictions built in made me laugh. They even race the Aprilia in the 125 class races. Incredible biKes. Oh and you can pick up a decent condition on for about £1500. Full spec bike for less than the precious dtr. Don't get me wrong I'd love an exc. for the price of the Aprilia you'd have an absolute shagged KTM.

@Energized.....any particular reason why hes going for th sx over the mx.

@Callum...thanks for that mate. There are a couple local to me at the moment that I wonna go and have a look at. I'll dm you the links and see what you think.

But like you said, either way, it would be a good idea to do all of the above anyway once I buy it to make sure its running as it should be?

@scrims - lol excs seem to go for big mooney still in this neck of the woods....I'll keep my eye peeled for a TE 125 as well though.

I don't doubt the Aprillia is a nice well built bike Cal, I just wouldn't buy one over the KTM or Husaberg 125,s. The KTM,s and Husabergs go for good money because they are quality items and hold there value.

Mind you I would still buy the ex Police Husky over any of them and bollox to all the power talk, they only go as fast as you twist the throttle and you could lose your licence on a 125 just as easily

I would love one of the Police Huskys, but have a strict budget of, £1500....I have too many toys already Scrim lol.

What about this?

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ktm-125-sx-road-legal-/191450299132

I don't know much about the sx...is it a fully blown moto x bike that has been made road legal? If so would I be better off getting a moto x bike, and doing the conversion myself - Would my budget allow me to do that?

Looks OK but has no wiring loom etc, daytime mot only headlight is only for show....

Give this an offer of £1500, it looks totally original even has the genuine KTM decals that came from new on it. Identical to the 125 with the 200 engine and slightly taller gearing. Seems like a genuine bargain. I know a few people who have had these and they are fantastic, the weight and size of a 125 with almost the power of a 250......

From my experience there was nothing wrong with the build quality of the Aprilia. Other than the electrics. They don't hold their value cause they get absolutely battered by every teenager going lmao amd then crashed. Don't get me wrong, I'd go KTM over Aprilia if they were the same price a condition. But to get a ktm of decent condition can be really expensive, hence the favouritism of the Aprilia. I do want a KTM though. Even I couldn't afford to get one.

Ring them and speak to them, its the best bet to find out the crack. You want a years mot and a service etc, they will do it. Its surprising what you can get from dealers when you ask, they don't want oldish p/x bikes left hanging about in the showroom. Good deals can be got even on left over brand new bikes from the previous model year.

Back in 2011 my mate got a brand new £6000 2010 Husqvarna WR300 for £3500 from Freestyle in Sussex it was a one off one week only deal for the last 2010 bike they had, I was like woah so I hit the internet and tracked one down at Gear4motorcycles and they had a " we will match any price " on there website so had to sell me it for £3500 on produce of my mates bill of sale ! Apparently it was less than they paid Husqvarna for them and they were not happy at all.

Guess I can only ask....havent got anything to lose really.

lol @ 10 hour round trip for a £300 dt...thats nuts...mind you I did travel all the way to NI with my mate a few years back to buy a Toyota Glanza V.

That husky looks awesome.....bargain to say the least.

With that ktm, I'm guessing it will be pre-mix...I won't take just straight petrol? How easy is this to do?

Also what are knobblies like on the road compared to street tyres?

Premix is easy, just put a fender bag on it to carry your oil bottles, put some trail tyres on if your only going to use on the road

Yeah the asking price is probably a fair price for that EXC200 especially with the low hrs/mileage and in such nice original condition.

They seem to be rare as hens teeth. I've only ever seen one come up for sale on Bike Trader, and it went that same day :(. How do they compare to the mx?

Bit of thread resurrection here.

Managed to get my hands on an Aprilia MX 125 in the end. Been a huge learning curve owning it as the top end gave up the ghost on the second time I took it out. But either way, it was a good excuse to out some dodgy electrics and other bits and bobs while the bike was off the road.

Anyway, I'll be doing my theory and mods soon, and was thinking about getting another bike - I'm keeping the mx. I was thinking about maybe a 600rr, but after having so much fun on an sm, I'm swaying more towards a 2008/9 Husky 610.

Has anyone had one of these before? What are they like maintenance wise compared to a 2t bike?

If you're upgrading then I'd sell the MX. Regardless of what people say, it's a great way to start, getting a 125 first and moving on up.

Hmm. Are parts easy to come by on the husky? How much was the 690 and what year is it?
