I had a good deal but It has some milage 2008 mint condition I paid 2900 with 21k miles on it. Had to buy manual tensioner for it. The rest I spend just on upgrades . But normally your looking about 4k for one. Husky engine parts are fairly easy to come by as the engines didn't change much since 2000 models

Wow that is a deal! I've been looking at a few online and like you said they're 4k upwards. Whats it like in comparison to your old husky?

Have you got any pics?

Liam was the 98 one you rode in supermoto trim?

Sebamax - I need a bike like that in my life...been researching about them all week.
So you can pick them up for around the 3k meark, but most likely they ll need work doing to them? Theres one for sale atm on bike trader, but its been stolen twice and got some cosmetic damage....think the price reflects that though at 4k.

yea the left kickers are not known to be an easy starters :) i think 4k is too much, just about 2 weeks ago there was 2012 enduro R ( R model actuallly has 690ccc and few other gadgets like abs in some of them et) and that was the same stolen at one point but fixed up and it was 3500.here is a link
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-KTM-690-ENDURO-R-12-BLACK-/271859077440%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3FLH_Complete%3D1%26_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D271859077440%26_rdc%3D1&nma=true&si=OM%252FDOuXLEdXp82e%252BT58ZPzvrSe0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

How about the Beakster, the 690 supermoto not the smc , my mate bought one after i bought my smc and he aint complaining :D

whats your budget on the new bike than? I would say dont bother keeping the MX i know they are nice bikes i still miss mine but once you move up there is no need for the mx if you need a spare emargency bike just get a bandit or something for 500 quid, and sell the aprilia and put the money towards a thumper.

I had a ktm 625 for a week before the 690 . and it was a nice bike at first i didnt like it but than it started growing on me, But now with the summer prices everything is up for such silly prices
i bought the 690 for 2900
my mates 690 sm was 2480
and looking a the prices people are putting up the old 640 for that money madness

How easy would it be to change the enduro r into a sm....just a case of swopping to some new rims and tyres?

I was looking at the beaksters, but they're a bit like marmite...not keen at all.

I'll have around 3k to spend :)

I've been doing some thinking....and you and Calum were right.....I don't think it'll make sense for me to keep the mx too. Whichever bike I have will just be a weekend warrior, so if I have 2, one will be getting ridden while the other one gathers dust. I think I've grown mega attached to the mx, because it was my first bike, and I've done all the work myself to bring it back from the dead.

Its cool to have that 125 2t kudos factor, but the 690, seems to be in a completely different league.

I know what you mean...prices seem to be creeping up over the past few months...maybe it would be better for me to hang on to the mx for the time being, then try and grab a bargain 690 at the end of the summer?

that could be a good idea but than at the end of summer when they start going down the MX will start going down in price too. right now i see they are on a good selling prices so if you can get 1800 for it now dont think twice. the 690 is a good mix as its got plenty of power to keep you entertained while its mostly reliable, a 450 or 525 would be nice too but than they would require rebuilds fairly often, i have heard of a guy put 100k miles on a 690 with only few faults along the way but nothing major. as for the 690 go for the smc i had the 625 and after getting the 690 i could see a massive difference. the handling its just mad on it , you can jump on it and feel soo confident in the corners its unbelievable.

seeing for what they are going for this one coming from a dealer i thing its a good price but still out of budget, they do come up for sale, the guy i bought mine off just bought another one with 6k on it for 4k

Good point. Still need to do my theory and my mods as well beforehand so I can scrap the loser plates. Most of the local young riders, close to where I live ride all year around, so fingers crossed slling the mx to one of them for a good price shouldnt be too much of a problem.

100k miles is pretty impressive.....would you be looking at a full rebuilt once they reach to those sorts of miles.

Man, I wish I hadnt asked you about the smc now....the more you talk about it, the more I want one lol. Where do they usually tend to come up for those sort of prices like 3-4k?
So far I've only seen the one on bike trader for 4k...the rest are all like 5k upwards...even on ebay

Or get a nice, lightweight, fast as FOOK KTM EXC 300. High spec, high power and will no doubt blow that 690 out the water for shear entertainment!

Better yet find the 380 :) . You tend to find them on ebay. Mine was on ebay for good 4 weeks before I grabbed but it was up for 3.650 if it was up for 2900 I doubt it wouldhave stayed there long. But the one on autotrader looks alright as long it's not recorded on the hpi but it doesn't say in the ad. But an akra can that's 300 quid or more in your pocket alredy. I have throwed one on from a 450 but would rather the proper thing. And it's got some extras and spare parts. And low milage too. I'm sure you would be able to get it for 3.8 at least . It's not a minter but it looks good. I was worried with mine as I bought it on 21k and it was just too mint I think I have checked the numbers over like 10 times once I bought it

Would the 300 or 380 be really quicker than the 690? I love 2ts, but ideally i need something that i can do motorway trips on from time to time. 2ts do t like constant revs do they?

So tje akra can on the 450 is different to the one on the 690?

Was the seller in a rush to sell or did you just do some major bullying on the price? Lol

As much as I would love the idea of a 300 or 380 for commuting, it really is better to stick with a 4t for that kind of thing. Fair enough if your only doing a 6 or 7 mile trip daily, the DT is good for that no problem. But if you're doing serious miles 4t will be nicer to you. Just my opinion but I remember commuting on the DR-Z and it was a lot better than the DT. Obviously not the same power output but still.

Yes and no. You can happily commute on a two stroke. But it's more maintenance. I agree, if you want a bike to just depend on to get to a from work on maybe they're not great. But I use mine for that exact purpose. DT is only used to go to work on.

He just wants a weekend toy. I was only joking djaniero. For serious hassle free just ride on the weekend grab a 4T. I like all the faff of the two stroke. At least you had a two stroke since they are dead in the water now.

I just hope you don't feel like you've wasted you time with getting it and fixing it. If you've kept the receipts mate then it'll be worth what you payed all day long.

If you were 17 mate, and you had the choice of a CBR 125 or a DTR 125 etc, you will understand the dilemma I was faced with. Limited displacement forced my hand into having a two stroke, for which I doubt I'll change from. Plan is an RD350/500 and a KTM300 supermoto are the dream bikes.

No not in the slightest man. Its been a good introductory bike to learn how they work and to fix things myself. I could have done a lot more worse for my first bike. I've still got all the receipts etc of the parts I've bought etc too.

I'm in no rush to sell it, so might spend the summer with it, then sell up and get the 4t in winter....see another project coming along lol.

I think the akra are different as the other one was especially designed for the 690. As for the price he came down to 3200 but I still wasn't too sure because of the issue with the engine he had. And than he was going to sell it to a company that sends bikes to china to copy parts of them. And they offered 2900 for it. Probably even less but that's what he told me so I grabbed it for 2900. And yes you are better off with a 4t for commuting and weekend toy. The smc service is every 3k but if yoy save up a little and get the smcR they have a bit more power and the servicing is every 6k

Thinking about it if you don't mind the maintenence you can go go for the sxv 550 but that's like oil changes every 600 miles

Yeah but realistically, how often as a weekend toy will uou hit 600 miles lmao. I'm sure if you use decent oil and filters you could stretch that out to 1000+ don't see why it would have to be 600. Sh!t design if thats the case.

Either way....thats a wicked price you got it for....Did you buy it in winter by any chance?

I looked into the aprilia.....seems like a hell of a bike, but arent they even more expensive than the ktm and need oil changes by the hour not miles?

they are priced the same or you can find them even cheeper for some reason this year all aprilias went up in price, they never used to be this expensive maybe around 3.5+ for a 550 now they are asking close to 5k. I bought my ktm about a month and a bit back middle of april . but than you know 2900 for the bike but with all the little things i have added on im around 3400 or so in it, so even if you get the one for 4k and negotiate for a better deal you are still getting more than half of mines mileage. altho mine had a good history it was imported from Jersey island first owner guy in his 60s and the second owner was a ktm dealer. Did you look into converted EXCs or a husky 510 or a 450? they might be a bit more maintenance but than its only a weekend bike

Had a good look at the 550 yesterday...sounds like an animal and looks like a real handful....shame you have ro drop the engine out to do valve asjustments. But then its a full on race bike after all. I looked into the husky 610, but not the 510. I really like the nuda r. But again but cash.
I ll keep an eye out on the ktm forum as well to see what crops up. Think i ve deffo got my heart set on the 690 now though.
