@MDK - How doe those mines work? Basically as soon as someone tugs at that chord it releases the blank round? I'm guessing you'd put in on the inside of a door or something?

you can attach the line to anything door window of just a waist height string across the garden ...position the blank almost anywhere that may make them jump or run out of shock ..

if you place it in a shed  some where not near a petrol source and not pointing towards the theif ....    use your imagination  place it in a bag of flour or powder so they get coverd or  water proof in some way and place in side a bottle of dye or ink ...

years ago I remember an add in back street heroes . the alarm was a trip wire that fired a blank shotgun cartridge . now in my mind that would scare the s@it out of any one and wake you and all the street. would think it would be easy to rig one up.

Might give one a go... Stick one in a bottle of UV dye or printer ink (got loads) and stain the **** stain so he's easily recognized.
I know from experience printer ink takes a good 2-3 days to wash off your skin. Or better still just blind the b4stard with some nitromors or bleach... I would!

LOL. Getting some brilliant ideas here....and I wouldn't even be remorseful, as there's nothing more I hate than thieves.

How difficult is the cyclone alarm to fit?

Depends how many features you want.

The alarm is a doddle. Anything else requires more work.

Yes the cyclone took me all of 20 minutes to install. Majority of that was stripping off the tank and panels etc.

The basic features only need 3 wires connecting - battery + & - and ignition live. This sounds the alarm if its armed and the ignition is wired.
If you want the immobiliser there's another 2 wires but you need to cut one of the ignition wires.
The other 3 wires are for the indicators and one for the remote start (stupid idea if you ask me) but only works with the electric start models.

As I said previously its a decent alarm for the money. You just have to find out which wiring loom your bike has as some use GND/earth to kill ignition where as mine is the opposite way round - GND/earth to run engine, disconnect to kill.

The loom on my bike is the 3RM9 (4 wire ignition)

I asked the seller about how to invert the immobiliser connection and ended up using a small 12v relay as he suggested.

Electrics/electronics are my forte so didn't have any trouble reading the wiring diagram or installing it all.

Whatever you do - DON'T fit the alarm under the headlight cowl as you'll get told. Instead fit it under the tank opposite the coil. I found a small bracket that the alarm fits on nicely and is hidden away right under the tank. The siren is crammed in the top of the air box so it can't be ripped off.
The wiring is nicely wrapped in with the rest of the loom :)

I've still got the install diagram for the alarm if anyone wants a sneaky peek.

Also if anyone needs help with electrics ill be happy to help

Thanks for that Mushy.

Ideally I would just want the basic features really....and the indicators as you said....I don't have electric start on my aprilia...so remote start is n/a to me...and a bit of a stupid idea on a bike.

I'll be honest and admit that I don't have the first clue when it comes to electronics, but if I have instructions etc, I'm a pretty quick learner.

Can I have a look at the install diagram to gimme a rough idea?

in my case altho i want an alarm i havent fitted it, simply because my dt was nicked even tho it had a alarm on it, now the new bike has a gps tracker, if it does get nicked and has an alarm the first thing that they will try to do is get the alarm off it so it stops beeping, so i dont put one on and they have no interest in taking off the seat and panels etc straight away so i have more time to track it down
