Description

YAMAHA DT 125 R .red and white 1989 .
bought as a barn find where she had sat unused for maybe 10 years .. cleaned new oil - fuel-carb clean-plug- etc etc and started streight away runs and rides great.
she has had 1 real user owner so 2 owners on logbook .. in the years I have owned her she is unused

and dry stored only taken out of storage every couple of months for a clean up check over and maybe start up and run for a hour or two just to keep things moving .
she has not had a mot or tax for maybe 12 or more years but I did get her all ready for the mot summer 2014 but never got round to it .

she has sat in storage since summer and photos was taken then ( pay no attention to the stickers I had them laying around so used them )

she is pritty much all standard still have the damaged red seat somewhere and she comes with v5-keys and maybe have some old mot,s somewhere if I can find them ..

these classic dtr,s are becoming more rare and sought after and go up in value each year I have seen some go for much more but tbh need the space and it seems a shame she is sitting unused .
battery may be flat and she needs some fuel will try and get some for a viewing but if not feel free to bring a battery and fuel along .

looks wise she is clean and undamaged has the odd spots of surface rust and paint touched up on frame 27years old so to be expected .. she is not showroom new but with a little work could be ..

now the rant..
if you message me with text gangsta style chav talk I will not reply.
I do not care how much your mate john got one for or how much you think this bike is worth along with how much you think you may need to spend on it .

the price stated is the price I want . let me make it clear I want to sell and do not need to sell do not ask if I WILL part-x for a pit bike or iphone . tyre kickers and mechanic dreamers do not impress me.
if you come to view do not turn up with all your mates as you will soon be turned away .
would like to sell to someone looking to restore and look after the bike not buy it to pull wheelies out side the local shops for his mates or abuse on a field .

so unless your a mature bike lover dont even bother message or call me .

BE SURE TO READ ABOVE 1-2 TIMES PRIOR TO MESSAGE ME .

IF YOU HAVE ANYMORE QUESTIONS PLS FEEL FREE TO ASK.

CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY idealy turn up have a look around bike do your checks . hand over the cash then be on your way kinda sale would make me happy..

I know I sound like a dick but if you had also the replys-time wasters and number of late night fence climbers that I have had you to would be like this ...

Perhaps. I think you have to leave the detachments at the door mate. I batter mine but I'm also mechanically sympthetic. I don't red line it, quite the opposite, but I do full blast over speed bumps and the like. It's a commhter at the end of the day.

But £1400 it will fly off. I thought this motor was mechanically spund good to go? Ah wait no mot? Yeah perhaps £1400 is about right.

I'd mention you're a forum member. Refer here is alwaus good. Lots of history then.

A little harsh. But understandable. Some 'chavs' can be very nice people.

Ahahaha that add is brutal! But understandable. I wouldn't be surprised if it went in a matter of hours. Most of the DT ads i see are overpriced. Usually stuff like £1700 for a bike that has had the knackers ragged out of it

If all the youngns realised just how good these first DTR,s are it would be sold in an instant but I think they don't want to ride something older than they are in case there mates laugh at them lol. All of my late 80,s early 90,s ones have went to 40 something buyers wanting to relive there youth though I have to say. I think taking the Yellow decals of it and all the rest of the decals that should not be on it and fitting the Red seat and Red fork gaiters if you still have them would go along way to getting good money for the bike. Plus a set of original tank panel decals but they are like rocking horse s**t these days. Try to make it look original is what im trying to say.

yes all that was my plan scrin but I totaly gave up ints not even looked at or taken out of the shed these days and not been moved since june ish ...

I fear if I dont sell now it will or could sit there for years .
im not looking at getting the top price and just the going rate that seems fair for a 1 owner bike of that year .. I know the price seems high to some of us who pick up bikes for £500 range and in some cases even less also the price may help it go to some one willing to look after it anything under £1000 these days to a teen or kid is nothing and it could end up as a field frash job..

Yeah MDK just keep it. You will only regret it in a few years when you can,t even remember what you spent the money on. I was have tempted but the thought of a muppet scares me. I would only sell if I really really needed the money, Hopefully no time soon.

I would love for one day when I have a good workshop or garage and just have my bike empty of fluids and on display lol.

I personally think the price is too high considering it has no mot

I would put it through the mot or at least sell it with the fail sheet

I get put off reading some of the adds can people not use spell check. all so I got hit with the if I send you a cheque can you send the bike by a van ect will pay . when I got the cheque went to cash it was stalled by the cashier for a few minuets then got a tap on the shoulder by the plod .....stolen cheque. I hate selling things ....

Ive said before you just have to laugh at some messages you get to adverts. Didn't realise you are selling with no MOT. For the sake of 25 quid I would just put it through one it is afterall a selling point and lots of people wont even consider buying without one I would think.

tbh MOT on such bikes like these means nothing to me . many of us have mates who own garages and in many cases I can ring up give a little detail and get a mot throu the post with out them even seeing the bike ...I know not legal but it can and is done all the time .

along witht h fake a mot is no way to show that the engine is anygood or even runs great ...
I have been very honest and stated the bike was goten ready for a mot in the summer so should pass and that the bike has not been used for maybe 14+ years ..

I have had loads of messages and in most cases have made things clear with the buyers and even asked if they have other means of contact or a way I can see who or where they are ...after telling them there are many just calling for my address with a view to come and try to steal the bike...

they all say yes I totaly understand and are happy to give me a facebook link to chat more ..

I have a guy coming to view and after checking out his facebook he seems very normal and just the kind of person I wish to have in my back yard or own this bike .
hopefully once he comes to view he will see she realy is as good and honest as I say she is .

I don't doubt the bike is as good as you say but for 25 quid an mot is still worth getting no matter what you say about it. But hey that's just my opinion, I have a 78 DT in the back of my living room that's not been on the road for years but if and when I sell it I will mot it.

yeah I understand your point ..

but I have never gone crazy over a bikes mot even as a buyer I knew what I was looking at and what to check or look out for along with factoring in would the bike pass a mot and or how much it may cost . and the buyers I am aiming for I also hope they also know the basic checks and what to look for and in some cases if I see they are clueless I will educate them on the spot by pointing out basic chacks .

I am being very picky with buyers totaly blanking the ones that refuse to send me a facebook link or other ways of contact along with as I say the gangsta chat text talk types thats realy a pet hate of mine . my grammer and spelling is not great but at least I try to type a full word with the correct amount of letters lol .

just had a gumtree offer and almost spit tea alover my pc screen ............some one offerd me £700 ...

see if this guy turns up tomorrow and if not there are 2 other mature riders waiting .

I think it'd sell easier and faster with 12 months MOT.

problem is not the ammount of buyers if you could see my inbox you would see this so the fact it has no mot has nothing to do with it ...

the fact I am selective with buyers and or who I give my address to or want in my back yard is the only reason its not gone yet ..

some one did let me down today with the good old my mate the 2 stroke mechanic can not make it so can we make it another day story ...needless to say after me getting the bike out waiting in most of the day that he will not be buying it even if he turns up with £2000 and a bu8nch of flowers .

Yeah, there is a lot of honest buyers who are not to mechanically savvy out there who would just trust the bike better with an mot no matter how many owners its had and where its been over the years. I cant see the argument for 25 quid especially if you can just ring up and get one without even taking the bike !

Horrible i know how you feel fella id been offered £800 to £1100 for my r6 bloody scroats lol . sold it the other day for a fair price in the end but yeah the worlds turned in to a wrong place you have to be careful, i had my worries the other day selling the r6 the buyer sounded a bit shifty ,id just read on facebook someone got robbed at knifepoint selling there kx250 . turned out to be a good lad though in the end . the r6 is gone now ,an yeah so is the stress a few have the address an never show up , so theft was getting a bit of a concern. i had to keep moving it.

 nope not sold  ..

with out talking bs I must have had around 60+ intrested  most was happy to give me a facebook link to talk more and in many cases after looking at their facebooks I totaly blanked and bloked them lol ..

totaly dissmissed about  20 or more that just asked for address no other questions .

had the mass of  idiots some offering as little as £500 cash will buy now type of offers along witht he loads of wana swap for a ybr -cr125 -pitbike- chinlun scooter  iphone and cash kind of offers ..all got a great message reply from me .

and also the time wasters who I told get my address when your setting of or in my local area and then message 10 mins prior to the time they said they would be here or come to say sorry can not make it or can I come next week or tomorrow ..... yeah sure I love waiting in all day getting the bike out ready  then having to put it all back away for nothing ..why the hell not .......as if lol .. they got a real fck off

in the end yet again I deleted the advert ...

althou I hate  it looks like ebay is the only way to go with a you bid you buy kind of add ... just been and got some petrol and wondering if I should put it in or on the bike ...............

so you can kinda tell I dont do stress  very well and thats one of the reasons I no longer ride ...
