NEED ADVICE ON A NEW BIKE
Permalink

Well i had my xj6 for about 3 months now and well im not bored yet but than i do miss the supermotos for ****ing about on the roads altho the xj6 is nice when i go out riding with people on the sports bikes at least than im not left behind that much and also can take the misses at the back from time to time and with most of the sms there is no rear foot pegs, so I have an a2 licence and now because of the power to weight restrictions preatty much any supermoto since they weight around 120kg it cannot have more tan around 30-33bhp so no matter if i get a ktm lc4 or a wr450 its still going to have the same power, the only bikes that fall into the restriction specs out of the box are drz400 and yamaha wr250x which i dont like.

plus i dont want to be spending 3000+ on a bike.

found a wr400 for 1000 quid and it looks to be in a good condition , whats your experience with them as i recall few people on here had one. bare in mind it will have to be brought down to 30bhp,

and the most important question , would any of the bikes be any fun at 30bhp? or it wnt even lift the front wheel off the ground?

30bhp is enough to piss about with, think a 125 crosser is 33bhp and no-one can say they aren't fun or lacking initial power

best a2 licence bikes are the 400 ss series. gsxr/cbr/zxr /fzr/vfr/rvf all great bikes lightyears ahead of something like an xj600 and would eat most modern day bikes on corners all day.

All 3 of those 400 Honda's are on rails when it comes to corners and those high revving v4's sound amazing, like f1 cars at full revs. Just don't let pc plum catch you hooning about :P

If you have the money... the rvf 400!!!

People talk about getting your knee down lol... on my cbr back when I had little regard for my own safety my feet used to scrape the floor and get shunted toward the bike if they were slightly over the pegs.

Have fun!

The 125 crossers are brilliant fun...up to 60 mph. Then it jus feels like you are ringing its neck. My brothrs words not mine. Says it will probably do 90. But that's like 15K rpm. Forget long journeys or anything like that on a 125 mxer. I think he said he'a considering selling it :( #notimpressed.

That sm wheels and lights make the engine more road worthy of course! Joke probably just bored by now, 60mph is slow on road.

90 my ass :P maybe if you stick a new gearbox in it?
