i look for the obvious normally buh.

if they can't be bothered to clean/maintain it,walk away..

the oil type they are running will tell you a lot.

cheap oil,walk away..

no service history? unless its just had a full rebuild, walk away..

one big thing i always check on dt's..

look at it from the back end and make sure it's straight!

no end of these end up flipped/crashed by dorks like me biggrin

always check frame numbers, loads are stolen lol

hpi check can save a fortune and lots of stress

HPI is well worth it.

I'd say really, they're easy, cheap, enough to fix/rebuild that as long as you get one for a price you're happy with then that's all that matters. If you don't fancy doing any work to it then yeah naturally it's better to have one that's already tip top, but they're so easy to work on that even if does need a bit of tlc then that's simple enough. We're here as always to give a helping hand.

I suppose the buyer and the kind of house he lives in would kind of give an indication, however that could just be stereotyping. But if the owner came out in a grey tracksuit i'd be wondering about how he kept it.... Everyone on here probably knows alot more about the bike than me. But they're kind of a chav magnet

Yeah. Whilst I agree partly, so long as engine numbers match the V5, the frame numbers match and the bike pulls nicely, everything else can be done on the cheap.
