Clutch Rattle on 4T ??

Hi lads,

Bit of a long shot, but what can cause the clutch to rattle on idle on a 4t motor? I've asked the seller of the bike but he doesn't seem to be that mechanically minded.

Clutch release bearing?

Some clutches do rattle. The DT clutch is cut away and needs to be balanced upon installation.

But it could not even be clutch related. Could be piston slap. Could be just some sketchy vibration.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but really? Do you really want a carb 4 stroke.

I mean as said do correct me if I'm mistaken but isn't that a dirty carb going in?

In my opinion, stick to EFI 4 strokes. Better on fuel, more reliable, more power.

I was after the husky 510 efi version....but this one came across this one cheao.

Oh really? The sxv 550 runs off throttle bodies and its a beast! A lot of the 4t guys say that the efi engines are boring compared to the carbed ones? Cant comment though as i ve never ridden an efi bike Cal.

Why would you want carb? Efi will.give you so much more over carbs. Don't know why they say that. If they made efi two.strokes mate I'd be all.over it

What? Shut up lol. Mate if you want something raw and stupendously fun, go and get a KTM 300exc or ride 2strokemx's RM250 lmao.

Nah mate, save yourself a lot of trouble and buy an efi bike and leave it alone lol. For the amount you will ride, you just want a big cc, reliable thumper. Done. If you want brute force, dirty raw power then you'd get a big cc 2 smoke. They say it's more raw but clearly don't want something too savage else they would have a smoker too.

Lol....its a niche scene man.....they all love 4ts and don't bat an eyelid at 2ts the majority of them.
well when they saw raw, i think they re referring to the race bred 4ts like the 450/510 huskys, sxvs, bergs and crfs etc.

Ideally i want the sxv 550, but the husky 510 is my second choice.....i dont want a boring bike....and for the amount of riding i do...can afford to get something a little more exotic/ race ready

I get that they will feel different to ride. I get the whole experience thing. But a properly set uo carb engine will not be faster than a properly set up efi engine. And unless you know what you're doing, setting up csrbs is an art.

One year it will be fine mate. Put the bike away for the winter and get it out the next summer anf the whole bike runs like a pig. Fuels, atmospheric pressure, whether it is hot or cold, all these things effect how they run. It's a mare just setting them up when all you want to do is ride.

Hey I'm all for tinkering, I was just surprised you wanted a carb. As said I'd have an efi two stroke in a heartbeat if I could.

Tell me about it man. I only scratched the surface of it all with the mx....and its a minefield to say the least.

As long as I stick with 08 onwards, both bikes of choice (husky or the aprilia are efi) so I should be all good. I'm going to try and test ride a carb 4t to se what all the hypes about though.
