Little scrappy in places, needs a quick sand and a polish in places. My Acerbis hhand guards and Cyclope headlight unit arrived today so hopefully in a few weeks the bike'll look quite different...

What tyres you runnin on it?

I'm afraid not r0bsk1, I was tempted but the chrome one's another £20 or so and due to the rest of the plastics being black I thought I'd play it safe and stick to black


Wheelie- the rear tyre is a dunlop D602 130/80-17 but I had to replace the front when I got the bike and it's a Pirelli Scorpion MT90 100/90-18.

Awwww bummer......get some silver spray paint The chrome version does look really good on the black. U know the 2 crystal bits between the lights?....they can be unscrewed and easily modded with an LED or 2 to light them

Chrome is for Hardly Dangerous's. Propper bikes are all black. :)

On the photo your old front tyre appears to have been fitted the wrong way round (the tread is going the wrong way, it's directional)


But you probably noticed that anyway.

Funny you should mention that because I thought exactly the same thing! That's the new tyre in the pic by the way and when I picked it up I almost said something but the sidewall has the direction of travel on in and it's correct!! It really does look like it's on back to front but according to Pirelli that's the way it's supposed to be... go figure!!

Well, it still needs some tidying up (removing stickers and giving everything a proper polish) but here's how the bike looks now. Had to put some resistors in parallel with the indicator bulbs as the system though a bulb was out due to the 5W vs. 21W deficit! Headlight was nice and easy to wire up too. Still need to calibrate the trailtech computer but seems to work ok so far!



Only thing left to do now is source a bit of scrap carbon fibre from work to make into my warning light LED panel.

you cut you panels they look cool, any chance of a close up pic and info on were ya cut em as i wana do it to mine when i get my frame sorted.

No probs, won't be able to get more pics until tomorrow evening though. From playing around last night the lights seem easily as bright as the old setup, just look much smarter!!

Did you use the big power resisters with the heatsink, Dave? If youve used the small half watt things you could be risking a fire soon :shock:

Hehe, yeah luckily my housemate's an electronic engineer so he sorted me out with some chunky 10W jobbies which should just about cope! Quite pleased with how it looks, like I say, just needs tidying up. Does anyone have any tips on removing stickers? They seem to be really stubborn and are only coming off in tiny bits...

You've done a great job at moding your bike .  It looks really cool.


WD-40 is quite good at removing stickers.  Spray some on and let it soak into the sticker.  Then you can easily brush the stickers off.  It easily removes any sticker residue that is left behind.

Appologise for the lack of promised update. I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow. Have now got the carbon fibre panel with LED's on and thanks to everyone's advice on sticker removal it's looking a lot neater. Boiling water to remove the stickers and petrol to remove any remaining glue seemed to work the best.

The hand guards are quite neat although the bulbs are simply pushed into the indicator body and I think will need a bit of tape or something to make sure they don't pop out.


Trailtech is really compact and seems to be very accurate. Sensor placement was a bit awkward and I've resorted to using a hose-clip as a temporary fix until I can think of something neater and more permanent.


LED light panel still needs a little tidying up as it looks a bit 'haribo' at the moment, slightly too bulbous if you get my drift but again is nice and compact and, well, carbon fibre baby!!


May trim the plastics back a little more to follow the contours of the panel too. The first cut was very conservative as I didn't know if it would even work!

Surprisingly painfree actually. I mocked it up in cardboard first and then used my mini dremel style cutter to take it to within about 4mm of my trim line. Used a mini grinder to take it back to where I wanted it and then a quick once over with some wet and dry. Then drilled all the holes using 2,5,7,8mm bits to get the desired holes. Wiring was straight forward too, just needed to make sure I had all the LED's the right way round and copied the wiring from the old speedo assembly.

r0bsk1: the Trailtech is currently just mounted using the standard bar mount, similar to what you find on mountainbike computers. May eventually get one of the nice billet 'dash' things but it seems fine for now.


wheelie: I managed to find some scraps kicking round the wind tunnel at work so 'acquired' a bit
