I've got a blue DT125X as well

I've recently fitted some black Yamaha hand guards which make it look even better .  I'm also thinking about buying a DEP system.

I really like the DT125X.  Although I'd like it even more if it was deristricted.

Yeah, I do tend to post links to my website quite a lot .

Im deffinatly gonna get some guards for mine

They improve the look and they help to keep the rain and wind of your gloves.  They're definately worth getting.  I got my gaurds from here:

http://www.thebikeshopfaversham.co.uk/shop.php?cat=64&mnf=67

I'm thinking about painting my bike.  It looks really nice in blue but everyone who buys a DT125X is going to get a blue one.  You'll start to see more of them on the road.  It'd be nice to have a bike that looked a little different.  I need to think of a decent colour scheme first though.

I commute 20 miles a day to and from work.  Most of those miles are on 50mph and 60mph roads.  The restricted DT125X struggles a bit on the 60mph roads, especially on the up-hill sections.  I really want to deristrict it, but I also need to get my licence upgraded first .

Cheers

Cool thanks for the link, great price for the gaurds (£17) do they just fit stright on or do you need a fitting etc

If you want to make you bike stand out then why dont you use grafics/decals? There a lot easier to use than painting etc. Theres quite a few on here - http://www.dirtbikestore.co.uk/ On there is where im getting my DEP system also and the rest of my bits etc.

BTW, whats the top speed your getting out of your restricted DTX? Thanks, rgrds Adam!

They go straight on.  You don't need any extra fittings or anything, they give you all the necessary nuts and bolts.  When I ordered the guards online I didn't get any sort of confirmation.  Apparently that's just the way they have there website setup .  They sent the guards the next day though .

Yeah I've seen those decals.  They do look good but I'm not sure how good they would look on a blue DT125X .

I've been considering buying the DEP system from www.dirtbikestore.co.uk.

BTW, whats the top speed your getting out of your restricted DTX?

The fastest I've got it is around 63mph.  It gets upto 40mph easily.  Going upto 50mph is quite good also.  But going faster than 50mph depends on the road.  If the road is slightly up-hill then it tends to stay around 50mph.  If the roads flat or slightly down hill then it will go upto 60mph.  I think the restrictions on the bike won't allow it to go past 63mph.

I'm guessing a deristricted DT125X would go upto something like 80mph.

Ok cool thanks for that

Ye i know what you mean about the decals, but im gonna just get sponser decals etc. Ones which go on the swing-arm, and maybe a few for the plastics. I just want it to look a bit different and more SM looking, im also gonna get some wheel rim tape and my name put on it make it look more like race SM's

Thanks for the speeds also, ye i did read a de-restricted DTX will do 90-100mph but depends on conditions and weight etc.

Cheers, rgrds Adam!

Thats news to me, i spoke to a Yamaha mecanic about the DTX and he said he's derestricted one using no aftermarket parts (e.g. DEP) and it does 90mph and then depending on weight and conditions can reach 100mph. As i say im only going off what he's said but im guessing its pretty good info if he's a Yami mecanic

I have heard that about the DEP pipe making things slower, but it was from a guy who hadent re-jetted properly as you said. After he did re-jet then he said it did make a difference to acceleration and mid-range

And ye them lights do look good, the one with the twin headlight looks cool. Do you know if there easy to fit or not? Do you need any extra bits to fit it etc? Cheers rgrds Adam!

DTR/DTX wont do 100mph, even de-ressed and with a complete dep system.

85/90 max, if you're tucked as low down as possible and are a light feker (like me :P).

I can't imagine a DTX doing 100mph.  Even if it did I can't imagine the engine lasting long at that speed.  I think 80mph on flat roads would be the very top speed you could expect, which is still pretty fast .

hey,
i hear (almost) everyone saying here a derestricted DT125 would max. do about 80MPH, but my DT is still restricted and it goes up to 80MPH too. maybe DT's in belgium are different, but i doubt it. so how much could it do derestricted then??
Grtz
