The TDR is no more coming back from the first day of my direct access course cruising at about 65 and the engine started to lose power. Changed down but didn't help and eventually lost all power and came to a halt sounding like a bag of spanners. AA man took out spark plug and the business end is completely missing, either exploded or melted or god knows what! Tried a new spark plug just in case but it won't fire up and sounds aweful so I'm guessing the bore/piston is a wee bit dead!
Anyone fancying a rather smart looking bike in need of a bit of attention get in touch as I'm either going to sell it as is or try to strip it down to get it sorted but would sell it straight away anyway.
Basically make me an offer! Judging by Biketrader, it could've gone for almost £1500 before it went pop!! I wouldn't want to take less than £600 for it seeing as the bike's only 5 years old and done 5500 miles. The rest of the bikes in excellent condition and looks the dogs! Everything was running perfectly until this happened
Have you looked at the top end to see if its only that ( i have a 4fu00 spare top end now thanks to ebay) you could get it the bottom end rebuilt for a couple of hundred and still ahve your bike.....
To be honest, even if I got it back together and running I'd be looking to sell it straight away anyway as I've just passed my direct access and got myself a Kawa ER-6N so unfortunately my TDR days are now over, been wicked fun while it lasted but I can't warrant having two bikes really. The question is whether anyone is willing to buy it in it's current state for a reasonable amount or if I'm going to have to get it sorted in order to sell it. Let me know if you're interested (that goes for r0bsk1 too).
Dave have you got the bike sorted as mine is now getting broken for spares as i cant be bothered with it any more and i have a complete 4dl engine fi your interested..... and loads of other parts inc a brand new rear tyre 0 miles on it new brake pads and of course the rest of the bike LOL
Hey dude, almost got it sorted. Had the head and cylinder off and the piston out... one seriously dead piston! Big hole melted in the middle and very messy! Luckily bore looks ok and I've had it honed bringing it back to life. The piston is a little more awkward as the one Wemoto supplied is a 56.40 and mine is a 55.95. Have got them on the case of sorting me out a different one but if all else fails I might have to get the cylinder bored out to suit the bigger one.
Basically that's a long winded way of saying that fingers crossed I should have mine running pretty soon and will therefore not need any parts!
