chain n sprockets

hi guys i have a 2003 tdr 125.whats the standard amount of teeth on the front and rear sprockets.on mine the front has 16 and the rear has 57 im not sure if this is right as my chain tightens say halfway round then goes realy slack i have tried moving the chain a few links and no change so its either the chain and sprockets are worn or they dont mach .ie.not standard.

they dont seem  worn well not the sprockets anyway

also i need to get the flywheel of as starter isnt throwing the toothed gear on the back of the flywheel.i have tried using a standard 3 leged pullers.its no good as the shoulders of the flywheel are rounded and taperd there must be yamy pullers or sumthing

any help would be great

         thanks m.oconnor

Can only really help you with the sprocket query... Standard gearing is 16/57 as you said. It's fairly common to change the gearing though with a 17 or 18T at the front with no problems. The problem your having wiht the chain's 'tight spot' is also common to virtually all bikes, to some extent. The usual theory is to rotate the wheel until you find the tight spot and then adjust the back wheel to have the desired amount of slack at that point, guessing between 15 and 25mm. Obviously if this leaves the chain dangerously slack at the 'loose spot' then something else must be happening!

Good luck,

Dave

hi dave thanks for your info

i have tried totating the rear wheel to find the slack spot then i have moved the chain up a few teeth on the rear sprocket then rotated the rear wheel and its still the same i have done this in numarouse ways and cant get it sorted rotating the rear wheel its tight then its slack then tight im thinking it needs a new chain n sprockets or just a new chainas somthing seems offset or worn not evenly
