Thanks mate.  Yes seen that, it's been listed for a few weeks now. It keeps not selling (or getting a bid) so he re-lists it.

£50 starting bid seems pricey to me for a second-hand front pipe.  I'd probably rather get a full new system for £159 (the Gianelli).

Plus it says in that advert that he won't post it for 7-10 days after close of auction / receiving payment, and that put me off a lot.

One question I wasn going to ask you Cosie - is there a restriction in the front end of the exhaust on our bikes ?   (Something at the front end that would be easy to remove?).

Cheers,

Here's me sticking my ore in

I beleive there is a reduction shim in the entrance to the expansion chamber. This can be taken out with a drill/grinder. The expansion chamber also contains some sort of catalyitic converter. You need to cut open the chamber, smash it out and weld it back up again. Oh if you attemp this make sure you have some water to hand. Sparks and petrol dont mix

robsk1 is right.there are two half moon shaped  peices of metal  where the pipe tapers out.i have this done it doesnt do much to the power to be honest but if you do this and cut the chamber you will have to use a mig to weld it back to get a good seal.now the cat is a honeycomb type that is worth doing.if i were you i would buy a new performance jobby.what do you think robsk1???????????

b.t.w what bikes have you got a.t.m robsk1? attch a few pics bud

ps take of the front pipe see if the washer is there i dont think it is as your bike is pulling like a train hehehehhe

Cheers fellas - ah, alas, all this talk of mig welders is well out of my league!

I think you're right, I best just get a performance system like the Gianelli.  I got an email from beedspeed, and the Gianelli system does fit TDRs right up to '06 apparantly

I will still have a look tomorrow at the stock exhaust, just in case it has the nasty washer in it!

cheers,
