I had an early mid life crisis at the age of 29 and wanted a dirt bike...
After scouring ebay I found this,
A 1999 dt125r rully derestricted ,tzr carb, cagiva front pipe and a dep rear pipe ( from a yz 125 ).
The front end is from a 1999 cr250, had the steerer pressed out of the forks and swapped over....giving me a front end that handles anything and is much lighter too...
The front brake is from the cr 250 too....much better.
Most of the plastics have been changed too, ktm front and rear fender and a few other bits and bobs...

The tzr carb for some reason does seem to give more power.
My mates bike had some really bad power problems, so we changed his standard carb for a tzr carb and copied the jetting setup on mine....big difference!! couldnt keep up with him after that.
Thats the reason i bought my ktm when he got his 450f !!
