1998 DTR - Doesn't like water

Not really sure what it could be. Check everything is tight and there is a seal between plug cap and the plug.

it could be that someone has removed the snorkle on top of the airbox, the snorkle is essential to keep water out. also if they have put lots of hole in the box, water could be getting there, so tape them up. the only outher thing i can think of would be the coil, you could try getting it really drie, then spray some sealent on it.

Thanks John and Carl i will take a look and let you know how i get on. I know the snorkel is still there on the airbox though.

i'll guarantee it's your ignition coil.
mine did the same thing, changed the coil and now it loves water

I am new to this game, is it easy to change? Expensive? etc

it's rather easy yes.
just get a new coil and sparkplud, the whole shabang,
unscrew the sidecovers and the radiator covers.
take off the tube from the tank, and take the tank off.

follow the sparkplug cable up to the coil and unscrew the two bolts holding te coil, fit the new
one and put it all back the way you took it off.

should take about 15 minutes.
I do it in 8min, hehe, i take the parts off when washing the bike, this being everytime it's been offroad. lots of salt where i drive.

it did die, but not because it got wet, i just failed to rev it. and hit a big rock under the water which set me off.

Sure you won't have any problem selling it....think youi are a bit far away from me though mate.
Good luck with the enduro race and the bike hunting...why not keep both!!

well, bikes are a bit more expencive in Denmark, my bike is for sale for arround £2400 and the KTM I'm looking at is £5500, ant then comes insurance and road toll.

crazy to ride bikes in DK.

It might be an idea, but you have to pay a whole lot to get it reregistreret in DK 2/3 of the selling price (from a new bike) so that means arround £2000 to import a new bike walued at £3000.
then they recalculate the price according to some magic book or whatever.

it's not cheap.
