What are you views on how long the DTR 125 engine lasts if it is thraped often ?

ive heard they last around 10000 - 15000 miles before they need a new top end ?

is this correct ?

dtr's are made to take a thrashing they can cope with alot of abuse i think its sad to see bikes on e bay ect that say never thrashed or never used off road its an enduro ffs

just thrash it till it dies dont worry about how many miles it will take cos every single engine is different when its on its way out it will let you know m8 biggrin

yep sounds about right ride it like its stolen

my friends has got 28000 miles on it now so i was just wondering if it would go at around 30000 it had a new piston at 15000 becuz it went

ive just done a rebuild on mine so easy compared to my old scooter (aprilia sr50) 

i didnt take the engine from the frame biggrinbiggrin

It depends on so many variables really.
Is the engine warmed up fully before thrashing
Quality of oil
Service intervals on time
Quality piston kits or the 20 quid cheapo's
Nuts and bolts all torqued to spec
Carb settings

if it was always ran on synthetic oil
all bolts were done up correctly
carb setting are next to perfect
always had regualar services
and always warmed up and not thrashed when cold

about how long then ?

[With top end re-build every 8 / 10 K] 

DEAD BY About 25000 Miles !? 

De-restricted ... higher revs - more wear - more heat - [yet more wear !]

[Need top end re-build every 5 / 6 K] 
 
DEAD BY 15000 Miles ... !

Both assuming warmup & good oil / maint' ....

Nitrous Kit ? - About 10 Min's or 8 miles, whichever is sooner ! biggrin

My mate had a lc 125 with nitrous.He had it featured in Streetfighters magazine.It topped out at just under 130mph
