Cheers dude confuse

Well happy now , it's starting to take shape .

Got the arse in the air without a riser kit and it's looking a bit different to the original 88 DTR . I keep forgetting this bike was made when I was 10 lol

Rear fender fit , found the right height and everything bolts up . Ignore the seat as I've not bolted it in place .

Also thinking about leaving off the handguards

Still have it mate but kinda prefer the black now , suits it better . Prefer all the red the be under things , not covering if you know what I mean

Mate from Yamaha service desk cam by yesterday and we got a few bits done . Attached the relay arm but awaiting a couple more seals for swingarm . Took the exhaust off so I could replace the gasket and clean up the cylinder head and replace with new gasket .My engine is rusty as fcuk inside but he reckons we should get it started and go from there . It's prob cause I left it outside for 5 months , ah well we'll see .

He also sorted the powervalve or whatever so it's fully open , later I'll source a 2 wire servo if I can . Springs on and we'll sort headlight wiring next week .

Really torn about these handgurads now , I'm scrapping these ones i bought as they were and look cheap , plus I think black might look better ... which brings me back to the MT03 handgurads , but will also need the handlebars . So I'm kinda leaning towards black bars with black guards , will look a bit meaner I think , right now it's still looking a bit too .. non supermotary I guess . We'll see .

Stickers are just for thoughts , they aren't stuck on

Few pics

Stripping it down again last night , that's Chris from Yamaha ( doing most of the work I should add )

Cheers guys biggrin

OK so been thinking really hard about these bars and handguards . I know some say leave em off , but the only issue I have with that is when they're off they make the headlight look waaayyyy too far forward . Hard to explain but the handguards kinda compliment the headlight .

These guards are just the wrong style and maybe colour , I definitely want a wrap around style set and have really fallen in love with these MT03 ones , aggressive as fook . Staring at my Renthal bars and I'm not really into them anymore tbh , I don't like the crossbar and the red was meant to be UNDER all the bodywork .

This is my mate from Yammy's bike and at some point soon we're going to take his bars off and test fit them on mine ... i really do love them .. but they are not cheap !!!

My guards lined up a bit for the pic

Kickass bars and guards

lol

I like the Renthal bar, but I don't like any kind of handguards. I even removed mine. But maybe that's just me, hehe. Still, I love the looks of your mean bike.

PS ...

Hand Guards ....

I like em' ... but then again i like hand guards, period !

I tend to use the ally bar strengthened ones as a necessity to protect the levers off road .. acerbis rally pro with spoiler extensions, were the last set i used, though i think later ones are out now ?

Mebbe black ones ?? If your unsure ??

or gucci ones wiv' iccle' lights in ????

Or mebbe,

just the ally wrap round bars, for the brutal 'Do Yer' want some knobhead ?' look ?

You could get baz to oversee polishing of em to mirror finish ?? wink

Good hand / lever protection & would lift the lines of the bike out to compensate for ...

'Frank Sidebottom' Headlight ??? aww

Got a few bits done today , took clocks off and the rear res bottle . Also sorted the wiring for the headlight .

Decided to leave handguards off , I prefer it without them now . Getting the ASV levers and leaving it like this .

clocks gone

And res bottle removed

Bars more upright

Chris testing it out for me

Had enough of the bad colour match on the front fender , got a spray can out and tried it out . Looks OK to me , not as good as a brill white one would but oh well . I'll keep looking for a better match but until then I'm rocking the badger look .

Taking off the plastic vents covering the oil bottle and radiator . I'll trade them in at the crap yard and get some black ones . You see this is the problem with styling a bike before it's built .

It's still wet paint so looks waaayyy shinier than it will dried . If it looks OK I'm ordering another Acerbis one but in black

Also not sure about the headlight now , these might look better ...

Anyways , hopefully these turn up tomorrow

Fat bars in red

ASV universal clutch , unbreakable C5 .. in white and black
