It fits , snug over the hub . Still unsure about it though , obviously wouldn't be using the speedo , only as a spacer . But I have no idea how the wheel works while it gets spinning . With the wall cracked , is there a chance of the rest of the wall cracking while riding , making the hub come loose ? I know the spindle runs on the bearings but how safe is this ?
check round the area of the hub itself (not the lip) for stress cracks if it looks ok it will be fine m8 its just because the ally is thin where its snapped off, the hub itself is a lot thicker and stronger
you gould even take it somewhere to get the rest of the snapped ally part shaved flush (or use a dremel) then chuck the speedo drive in the bin and get a spacer made up to fill the gap
Have to agree with baz.Yes the hub is fine.If your not running the speedo drive then just machine the rest of the damaged alloy lip off, and have a spacer made to the fill the gap.
hey bud the project looks really good so far cant wait to see it finished have you got out planned for the engine or leaving it standard till you get used to it have you got your bike license yet
Not even done my CBT yet but im not worried , i know how to ride but wont go in there big headed . No engine plans yet mate just looking at the options , deffo a derestriction
Simon mate im 100% sure its the right one , so sure i just bought it lol
Sorry guys , still no Internet at home so not been taking many pics .
Been doing loads though but nothing cool to look at
Took the front suspension off again as it needs to be adjusted which i did today . Got myself some proper tools for the rebuild so no more trips to Yamaha .
Have been there the past two day though getting part numbers and prices . Ive got almost half a DTR on paper and will post up everything as soon as i get connection at home again . Almost every part you can think of ... numbers will be sourced .
Anyways cousin moved out so his room is now my new garage , much easier to work in than a ****ty cupboard .
Left the wheels for now as it's time to sort the swingarm . I've sorted it out to the point I only need bearings , meaning that the £131 price tag should drop , not worked out how much by yet .
Have also started taking apart all the electrics , the wire harness i was going to replace , but the price (£120.12) plus the fact mine seems OK means i might just keep it . CDI (£364) and other bits are all good but wont 100% know until I hook it all up . Been mock fitting them though and it looks pretty straight forward .
All the handlebar electrics too , have stripped most of them down and a few bits will be powdercoated . Not too sure what to do about the master cylinder though as it's a bit complex to take fully apart ... and it costs £140 to replace if I muck it up . But it does need a repaint some how .
Airbox and battery tray is pretty much sorted and ready to go in after swingarm .
Have got almost all the nuts and bolts for everything important on my list and the only ones left to get are for the engine . ( which i still haven't touched yet )
So , very soon I'll be able to attach the swingarm and get cracking on bolting everything back on , no need for mock fittings as I've got the right tools now .
The engine I'm sending off to some guy in Maidstone . Cant remember his name at the moment but apparently he's the daddy at 125 engines and will get it going and do all the trick bits I need doing . Not sure on price or anything like that but will check it out soon enough .
OK so a few pics from the past two weeks , as i said it looks like nothing much has gone on but trust me I've been hard at it . It'll go from a frame to a full rebuild pretty soon .
New garage
Everything being unwrapped and shelved , helps me to concentrate on sorting all bits at the same time
Few days ago fitting the yokes ( failed attempt lol )
Sorting out the harness , might cut all terminals and re-crimp new bits on . Also need to wrap new tape etc around them
Stripping handlebar parts to coat them
Then my ever growing parts lists , got pages and pages now . Wont need half the stuff on them but doesn't hurt to get the numbers
That's it right now , off back home so no netz again . Next update should be a good one ... hopefully
