Blinn..

Mines an 04 RE, but it's the same engine as yours with the kicker pulled off !

Gearbox Oil ...

Manual Recommends ... at 1000 Km [after run in period to get swarf / bitza crap out !] but that's not relevant to your bike ..

Then every 24000 Km  nerd.gif [about 14000 miles ?]

Long Way That ?

You will still get crap & debris appear in there, not to mention water from condensation ...

So..

I'll be changing mine every Year  or   Every  3000 Miles ... Whichever comes first wink ...

Would be happy up to 5000 miles on same oil, but after that i would have to change it .... The shearing action of cogs, is bad toad for your oil ...

So i guess .. every year or 5000 miles ...

[Change yours now, if you have just got the bike, as if the miles are right, it's been stood around a lot for the year !]

2 Stroke oil ...

Decent Make,  Synthetic    or    Pref' 'Fully Synthetic'  2T Oil ...

Castrol  R' ...  How old are you ?? wink

You don't get to smell that often these days !!
M8 of mine used to run 2T oil in tank [premix] & a couple of spoons of 'R' in the tank too ... 'Smelt mighty fine' sunnysideup.gif ... but it was 70's technology ...

DONT DO IT ..... disbelief
Modern Semi / Fully Synth oils will not mix with 'R' and are likely to form gooey lumps + block your feed lines !!
[Result, engine fecked']

If you want smelly, i think Ipone or someone do a Strawberry Flovoured oil, which cost a bomb & smells $hit !

Just rev it harder & enjoy the two stroke smell !! biggrin

Gear oil i would change once a year or 3000 miles whichever is sooner.Use a bike specific oil as car oils are not compatible with wet clutches.
Castrol R is a cracking oil if your using it in a high performance motor thats worked hard but will be a pain in the ass for a dt.Its premix only too.Does smell fantastic though!
A dt doesn't really need fully synthetic as its doesnt have a delicate nikasil bore or 14k redline.A good semi is the way to go.I use Putoline TT sport. Never seized one yet!
