Hi everyone
I have recently bought a 2005 dt125 and after a 2 weeks sick with a knee operation im now starting to do bits on my bike ready to start riding it,but im noticing problems with it.
Ive listed below some of the things ive come across already im just hoping ive not bought a pig.

Problem 1,no  Engine is very smokey (bluey white)when idling and revved up.Auto lube is set ok although i have not been out properly yet to see if it needs its bowels cleaning out.

Problem 2,no Front forks seem very soft, they feel like i can make them bottom just under my body pressure.Ive checked fork oil and its at the right level.

Problem 3,no Indicators flash very fast.Previous owner has changed them for tiny carbon look ones.Very bling but the bulbs fitted are only 12v4w and seem alot lower than the 12v10w that should be fitted. When i put an electrical tester on them they flash normally.Change bulbs i hear you shout, but the holers will only take small peanut bulbs.

Problem 4,noThe temp light comes on.I filled the radiator and header tank and the engine heated up and spat out steaming water from the overflow.Water is circulating.

As i said ive not actually even got to know the bike yet, these are little niggles that have become apparent while ive been wobbling round it itchin to fix something with a gammy knee.
Any help in these problems that anybody else has experienced would be a great help and thanks in advance for any answers.

1: Sounds like transmission oil is making it into the combustion chamber, check your oil level before and after a ride
2: DT125 front forks are very soft, yours might need servicing though, they should never bottom out through normal road use.
3: Resister or or a new LED flasher relay
4: Head gasket leak likely

Bad news but you might need to start thinking about taking the top end off or taking it to a garage...

Thanks for your replies,
Im going to buy 2 pair of new indicators and get rid of the small modified ones if any one is interested.
Where can i get a head gasket from??
I looked around and can only find complete kits from around £20,does anyone know a dealer link to send me to??

hi carl buy your gasket set from a genuine yamaha dealer

the pattern ones are cr*p the head gasket tends to warp badly on most

also main jet for mikuni carb

standard 240 is good and will work with standard or dep exausts

check that item number ebay
