Can anyone explain the problem, ive tried new sparkplug, new air filter, new petrol and ive also down jetted to a 220 because i fouled a plug when it had a 240 but i still get the same problem.
Things you should know, it happens anywhere from 10,000rpm to 12,000rpm even if im in gear,as far as i know the bike is standard apart from the DEP pipe and only has 3000miles on the clock.
How many jets are in the DT carb, i.e starter, pilot/idle, main is that them all or is there another to supply more fuel when the powervalve opens?

Ive got standard reeds as far as im aware, i don have some fibre reeds which i was going to fit but havent got around to doing it yet.
Theres no way im putting the 240 back in its fouled 2 plugs one of which in the middle of london(park lane) on a sunday and we had to wait 4 hours for a friend to drop of a spare spark plug he had, the only way we knew it was the plug that was playing up is because my mate has a dtx and we took the plug from his and put it in mine temporarily to test it was the plug which was at fault his was a nice tan colour when we put it in but not even 10 seconds later it came out black!
i get misfire at the top revs in really wet weather. the plug lead arc`s to the top of the metal rad output pipe. The fist time it did it, went over to my m8`s and thought it was the plug. That was black n fouled. Did`nt realise at the time it was the lead arc`ing out.
I changed the plug too. it cured in the short term till it pissed down again. Another note, the standard plug is the NGK BR9ES, i use the B9ES, the difference is a resisor in the plug it self.
For reasons unknown, the DTR coil likes to blow the resistor on many DT`s. I think its the coil as it degrades , as it gets old, does some damage to the plug, by either over voltage, or violent voltage spike, taking out the resistor.
Better of buying a new race coil, or change to a B9ES plug. I have changed to this plug and now done just over 1200 miles on it with out any hassles.
i can understand you dont want to put the 240 in at mo as it wont run properly due to too rich a fuel, but its obviously not the jet thats causing the problem as your plug is still being fouled, i would check your fuel mixture screw and reeds, thats what i would try
