speedo drive also off a DTX, dont think you have to do the whole speedo, just the speedo drive.

wait for someone to verify that tho :)

if you fit dt125x wheels onto a dt125re you need front forks, caliper, hose. rear wheel bolts on..

can only keep original front end if you build an SM rim onto a standard hub..

Why , is the dtre different from the DTR forks wise ?

IIRC to a DTR the forks and caliper are just an OPTION if you wanted to use the Brembo caliper . How come its essential on the DTRE ?

cos the dtx front disc is bigger than the dtre so the caliper position is higher up the fork. Unless you make a caliper mount..

like so..

for the price of rebuilding a front wheel with sm rim you could buy a whole dtx front end.. my wheels were £125, forks £40, caliper £35.. £200 would get you a front wheel sm rebuild but you'd still have the small disc and single pot caliper... And would still need at least £50 for a front tyre..

rebuild wheels + tyres - at least £500
sm wheels plus forks/caliper £300-£400 max plus better braking

or buy the dtx wheels and fabricate a bracket - £200 max

could also buy a set of wheels for say £200. sell the front for £100. so youd get a rear wheel that would bolt on Waaaaay cheaper than rebuilding. Then with the £100 add another at least £200 and get the front rebuilt..

full conversion for the win + cheaper by miles..

Yeah I know all that mate as ive done it myself . I was just saying Technically , all you need is the rims and spokes and nothing else

yeh i know what your saying and i knew you had gone through it all yourself. You could buy a set of dtx wheels for £200, then have the dtre wheels rebuilt with the sm rims (if the amount of spoke holes are the same! back dtx hubs are identical but front is different) would cost the price of spokes (as the spokes are longer on the 21inch wheel) and rebuild..  oh and not forgetting the speedo drive which is like rocking horse **** to find..

cost of new spokes + rebuild is gonna be close to £200. couldve bought forks and caliper for that and have better braking...  and then still have all the original forks + wheels to convert back later or sell to cover cost of converting..

if you want to be able to take it offroad still id personally buy another set of hubs and get em built onto sm rims.. straight swap over then.. will cost more though.. if you buy dtx conversion then you gotta swap forks over every time you wanna go offroad..

The DTX front wheel spacer wants turning down slightly too if you're fitting to DTR or RE forks as the wheel sits off centre.

Someone will snap your arm off for that, sumo setups are worth about £200-300 more then the DTR.. Are the rims Excel by any chance?

They bolt straight on, and you can have the original or brembo caliper on the standard forks. All you have to do is make a BRACKET out of steel give it a quick coat of paint and your good to go!
