should be play side to side, (thrust) , but no up and down movement on the conrod.

My up and down movement is up and down on the magneto (flywheel) side case bearing. Nasty!..lol

need to take the cover off to feel that tho .

mind you, i would LOVE to have a full set of these bearings

OOOERRRRRR! but at 250 dollars a go!..lol

The engine is stripped and overall its in brill condition for 20K miles.

Unknown why my left bearing has worn. much more than the right bearing. I have a feeling, in the past, it was run on rather cheap 2T oil.

any how, no detonation. The rings and piston are within tollerence. which is quite good for 20K on standard bore.

Even tho, the plug is running a little lean. This plug has been in for 2000 miles.

Now its in bits, and i have the bearing out.

Ive run out of gas for my blow torch, so i cant get the other bearing out for now..Till tomorra..

well what 2 days i have had. 2 days of banging my head against a brick wall with my engine.

Got the new bearings in, at it took me a day to work out they are the wrong ones.

The bearings i bought are 6305 25X62X17mm

DTR bearings are 6305R1 25X62X16mm .

Would you belive 1mm width difference, u cant close the case!

6305 crank bearings are anywhere from 2 quid up to 11 quid

6305R1 bearings are 21 quid each!

grrrr!!!

id love to know all this about engines lol .. so i could give mine a good clean, to do what youve done id have to pay a garage £300000000000000000 pounds, thats even if they do what you actually asked them lol

well, the bike is back on the road, and ran real sweet for 50 miles over the week end, then it developed a rattle.. cant tell where its comming from tho.. Lookes like either the big end or littlle end.. or a broken ring, sounds from the head area.

SO it back to being off the road, and stripped again..GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

any how.. this is a vid this last friday..it was running smooth too!.. and fast..

i dont know who makes it craig..its all LED..very thin and sits under the rear fender. U can hardly see it. Ive not seen another like it on ebay or in the usual shops. It was on the bike when i bought it..

The one i really like and looks the part is this one..all LED too..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DRC-EDGE-2-LED-TAIL-LIGHT-WITH-NUMBER-PLATE-BRACKET_W0QQitemZ110434912106QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item19b66f076a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

See if i can get any markings off the one i got... see who makes it..

funny u say that, i have two other DTR engines sitting in my flat. Both are stripped due to bearings. lol

The tail tidy is dead easy to install. Its held my 3 small nuts/bolts on the rear tail/fender. The wires are easy too. U need to take the seat off ad undo the 4 bolts that hold the fender on. I think the tail tidy uses the existing holes of the original light unit.

a weird wirring noise craig, and movement on the magneto/flywheel. Up and down movement.

How i notice mine, just now and again i heard a light knock at high revs. Further investigation revealed the play in the bearing. Also vibration at 5.5K revs.. snce ive done mine, it very smooth thu out the rev range.

looks like morra mornin, the engine is comming out again..

any video recordings of this?
when at tick over (its too loud otherwise)
theres like a whinning noise coming out of the engine, its a pain in the arse with a helmet on because it blocks out louder noises, all i can heard is that echoing thru the helmet.
its just a little whinning noise coming out the engine, is there a place where its loudest??
thanks .. i hope its not this tho!

should of taken some footage when it was doing it.. soz.. it fixed now..

All DTS have a some type of gearbox whine. it down to the straight cut gears. As to where it was comming from, that was the problem, i could`nt work that out. I just had a suspision of what it was at the time. Left hand side crank play.

anyhow.. see if u can get some footage up if u can.. wonder if i can hear the problem.

Mind u, hope ur having a better day than me, engine out.. pistion fooooorked, bore scored...

The also is a crack going down the center. It did seize on the duel carrage way, Wished i replaced the piston when i did the bottom end now..

nother 80 quid and she will be all right again..back on two legs!

Today a good day!.. the barrel is now bored out to 56.5mm and a matching piston/rings/little end bearing/gudgeon pin.

Fits all well snug, and feels nice n smooth. The compression is unreal. What a difference. The kick starter is a lot harder to move, due to the resistance of pressure. Plug out it spins nice.

I cant wait till ther rings seal real well. 500miles of pussying it around grrrrr..not over 6K either. Run in and the YPVS will be open most of the time..lol

Not happy with the crank bearing.. i think it might need another strip in the future. wont be sure till she fires up.

any one got a brill crank they wana sell?.. just in case

Yup, pattern crazy, but a very good quality one.. Believe it or not, ived used this gasket twice now, seals perfect. Not used a drop of water. Temps are perfect. My secret is clean clean clean..lol and always check with a steel ruler..

The bike is runing after a few hours install., and jus got back froma 50 mile ride. The low to mid range power is so much more. I can pull to 50mph quite quickly now, with out going in the powerband. Unreal how much difference there is from a 20K piston to new rebore.

The crank is ok, not making any nasty noises, but hoping to find another in the future. glad to back on the road..
