OK Ok ok, got my bike now (2006 dt-x), got a DEP full system on it, i get 75ish out of it, so striped the wire out the back of the speedo the green brown wire and conected a longer wire then rapped this round the screw which holds the ignition to the frame, nothing happend ? what am i doing wrong (im thinking the wire is too thick, im using 27 amp wire to the frame) ? and what am i suposed to notice differant to usual ?

......Dont get me wrong the bike is fast just thinking it might be faster if i do the speedo thingy ?

I get 77 with a similar set up (gutted standard pipe though), so I think you're hitting design limitations. Surely the smaller wheels don't help either.

I'm bumping this thread, cause i need an answer to a question from someone please. Anyway i was tinkering with my bike this morning, swaping a spark plug for an iriduim NGK(finally found my spark ecstracter), when i thought "mmm let me look at that wire thingy behind the clocks" the one to de-restrict the 06 dtx, as ever since i've done it i'm not happy i've done it right, It hasn't really made any differance being earthed as far as i can tell, i've tryed 2 differant earthing spots and differant gages of wire. So came to the conclution that i must, dispite disputing the fact with all my teachers when i was at school, that i'm stupid !
So after breaking the drill bit in the drill which i was using to make a hole in a peice of metal for a new number plate braket (yes my number plate + braket has gone AWOL) and smoking half a packet of lamberts, i gave up tinkering and had to walk away before something got smashed...

angered.gif I can't find the drill bit key angered.gif

then i remembered my nice new freinds at www.DT125.co.uk and thought they could shead some light on things.

Ok, so my question is:- What will i notice/how will i know if the YVPS is working i.e. bike de-restricted ?

you should know if your restricted because you will get to 60-65ish and the bike wont want to go any faster ... if your derestricted then you will carry on past 70 .. past then, it depends on
1. how fat you are
2. if you have had you head skimmed
3. if youve had it rebored once, twice, whatever (basically bigger piston than standard)
4. if you done mods to your bike that werent a good idea
5. what kinda hill your on lol

I have a "97 dt I think it is restricted as it dies if I try and carry on to far into rev limits but I get an easy 70/75 not fully opened it on a big enough road to check yet. I need to take the wire out of my speedo / locate which wire it is, I'll do this when I fit my new polisport mmx
