Hi chaps,new to bikes.bought 4 months ago a french import 2001 dt125r with only 400 miles on clock.really getting in to biking now .2000 miles later wanting a bit more power .going to need some advice soon ,hope u can help .regards paul

Yep, the engines mint .it was on kph when it can into the country ,the owner put new clocks on .it probably has done more but not much more .so ive run it in as new and changed the engine  oil .put a full dep system on .derestricted with info off dtrpage ,like speedo mod. but havent done inlet mode.now done about 2800miles.

nice, sounds good, and looks mint :D
if your dep rusts, gutt your standard exhaust, its better than a dep and dont rust anywhere near as fast :)
it doesnt look like its done many miles tbf

Yeah so ive read.can any one tell me why after warming the bike up for say 10/15 mins ,i take it out up through the gears in to top and it will do 70mph @ about 9 grand and pulling strong,then for some reason will cut to 65mph after a short time .

When is a 2 stroke fully bed in .a lad i know said it probably wount do the 80 mph im want yet as its too low miles ,help please!

yes when you tick bike over it takes charge from the battery, when the alternator kicks in it returns voltage back to the battery

if you are warming up the bike it will deposit more voltage to your battery

when driving your alternator will get used, when you hit powerband any voltage not coming from engine to make up for the powervalve will be drawn from your battery

this will be why it is dropping power after a while of riding

if it was compression it would be like that all the time as you have expanded the barrel size by the heat of warming it up smile.gif

check battery voltage and check that it is holding charge

when charging check the mili amps reading(if you got a decent enough charger) smile.gif

Cheers ,the battery seems fine?ihave my light on all the time from start up . then it drops to 65 it stops there,for the rest off my ride .do u know wot a fully chargerd battery should be reading as ive never thought i had to charger it. thanks

can sit at 13.97 on a perfect battery ys its more than 12v but 12v is the output just incase nobody knows this smile.gif

Pics show standard exhaust,have fitted dep full system ,sounds great ,u should see the looks i get off peds, but ive just got a big grin going on in my helmet. ohh err missis lol

Yep, checked battery yesterday was showing 11 v or so .charged battery for 4 hrs last night and it went up to 13.90v .but this morning it had dropped to 11v again .i am going to top up with deionised water if needed tonight and recharge .any thoughts !!
