hmmm by any chance were your rear wheels splayed out a bit at the bottom? I've noticed that on my 106 van and wondered what was going on...

damn damn damn

more expense :(

I love that van n' all. If it's too pricey to fix it's game over sadly. Lemme know how much it ends up costing, cheers bud.

Yep thats the symptoms, I had to put the standard wheels back on as the alloys started rubbing the inside of the wheelarch. Its gone on alright now for about 5000 miles with the original 13" wheels on but the other day it started making really loud clonking sounds and now it sounds like ive got square wheels haha, clonk clonk clonk clonk! Ive seen bush kits for about 60 quid but most people ive talkied to say, when it starts clonking like mine it is 2 late as the beam will be too worn to fit the new bearings tightly. Ive managed to get one from white horse breakers today off a s2 with 22,000 on the clock. Cost me 120 quid. But i need 2 new shocks aswell as the top mount has half sheared on the drivers side! :o Hence the clonking so im gonna be looking at about 300 in all i rekon, getting a mate to take off old one and fit new one and do brakes etc for 60 quid. But i gotta do both front drive shafts aswell......so it will cost abit more :s

Moral of the story is dont fit massive alloys as all it causes is accelerated wear on everthing! ;) Its not worth the bling bling factor ;)

Also i know have 4 TSW 15" 8 Spoke alloys for sale, will fit 10, saxo etc 4 stud fitment, nearly new tyres :O 100 quid the lot wink.gif

nasty!

I paid £300 for my van so I dunno if I can justify spending that much. Weird thing is when I bought the car it had just been MOT'd- with the wheels looking like that. I figured the van version must have uprated rear suspension or somethin- so the rear end looked weird with the van empty... hahah I'm a noob

shame cos they are wicked little vans. most economical car I've ever had. I'll see whether it'll go through the MOT- I bought it off a mechanic so I'll get him to take it to the same tester again- who knows could be lucky. I'm not at the clonking stage yet- just looks a bit weird. biggrin

Pisses me off how pricey everything is for cars.

I have the same problem with my Astra- brilliant engine in it but all the MOT bits would cost more than I paid for the car. bollox. Hate MOTs so much...  no

I'm looking forward to the apocalypse. No MOT needed! I'm gonna get a securicor van and mount a .50cal on it

Pahh 300! I paid 850 for mine, had 90k on the clocks :/

Anyway the rear axle clonking stopped all of a sudden the other day so i dunno if thats good or bad :/ But it seems to be rooling along still so thats alright, May just keep the new beam and shocks in reserve smile.gif

Altougth i have more problems now, blower decided it would give up and take the rear window demister with it :/ All fuses are intact and iv taken the middle fascia of and checked all connections but its still dead, good job its happened in summer! Just have to roll with the windows down now.

But the engine, gearbox and clucth are all good still and i worked out im getting roughly 55mpg even with the fuel pump screwed into the stop so all is good (sort of) smile.gif

Oh and DT has been collected now and paid for so happy days, Who says you cant trust ebayers with 0 feedback smile.gif

heheh to be fair though yours looks in better nick to mine. Mine has a badly worn interior, and freaky green stripes ...

Engine is still strong though, and it's getting 60mpg no worries. I love it, but if it has to have major work done for MOT it'll have to go- sadly. I'll give you a shout if that happens, cos it would make a cracking doner car. New clutch, radiator etc AND the blower works biggrin
