Im under the impression that the RE does not have a cat. It looks like it has been cut as it has a rough edge. Should this pipe be blanked off or should it be left open?
cat pipe runs from expansion to cat (up by the headstock RHS) then into airbox.. you need to bung/fill/cover/seal both expansion and the airbox. looks like someone has swapped front pipe and just left the rest!.. Mine is bunged from where it leaves the pipe and hidden away so if I ever need to put standard front pipe back on I can without having to refit all the cat etc..

I spoke to the guys at 'Adrenalin-Pedstop' today, as Woll rightly said, the aftermarket DEP front pipe for the 2004 onwards model doesn't have a fitting for the cat pipe, it comes with a kit to bung the hole in the airbox where the pipe was.

The bit at the headstock is a reed valve to prevent exhaust gasses getting back to the airbox. The cat(alytic converter) is in the fat part of the expansion chamber.
By the way - if you remove the cat from the exhaust it contains platinum and could be worth something!*
