if your running your bike in, dont peg it open, try and pin it shut if that makes any sense.
im not sure how you would do that, hmmmmmmm
but anyway, if you pin the valve open, its SH!T in low end revs, it wouldnt pull up anything, the only good thing about pinning the valve open is cuz it gives you a right kick at 6500 revs and its all powerband from there but it has noooo power low down, ive had mine open b4.
Ive taken both servo cables off, left the pulley mounting on the PV and have disconnected the electrical plug to the servo for the moment.
Its going back down the mechanics on Thurs morning for them to re do the top end rebuild they fuked up so i wont ride it till they done that. Hopefully the new servo cable will be here by the time they done the top end so i can get it running back off the servo to run her in!!
Im not sure if they put the servo cables back on the wrong way round when they did the top end or not so ill set the cables and PV up myself!!
Yep i think your right woll! Their mechanic is only young, they are a moto x shop that do mechanics aswell. I cant be sure they messed the power valve up but when i got it back the self cleaning thing the PV does didnt sound right and when i checked it was sort of stuck, thats when i noticed the servo cables the wrong way round. I untightened the cables and the PV moved free again.
It was when i was trying to set it up right using a guide off here that i broke the thread bit on the cable!
Once they sort the top end out ill set the PV and servo up correctly myself!
Ive gotta take my bike down to the mechanics in the morning. I havent ridden it since i broke the PV cable so what shall i do with the PV?
I wanna pin it open to ride down the mechanics and by the time i get it back from them ill have the cable to connect all the PV back up properly to run her in.
How do you pin the valve open and get cap back on if you know wot i mean!! I know you pin it by sticking a 4mm drill bit in the notch and the hole but then the cap wont go on, lol
hmm Ive been running in my project dt, done about 400 miles so far with the P.V pegged wide open, seems fine to ride at the low revs. Only taken it up to around 6000 so far just below the powerband and it pulls fine! ;)
you can easily keep it open... just move the pv til its fully open then unplug the servo. its wont be fixed but it shouldnt move. I had a snapped cable for over a month.. Ive unplugged the servo on my 04 a few times for a laugh too.. sounds loud as **** (I dont have baffles but its quiet anyway till u are hoooning it)
to pin it properly you need parts from an older dtr with a pinned valve..

My servo cables have turned up and im not gettin my bike back till tuesday due to the cylinder needing a rebore so will be able to hook the pv and servo back up properly.
Once ive run her in tho im gonna pin the pv open just to try it out, just to see how much difference it makes!!!
it will do ur nut having a fixed pv.. no power until 7-8k makes it hard work but its rewarding keeping the revs up in the power.. and pulling away u need u give it more revs.. I think you have a lil more power through pinned over fully working PV (maybe the PV doesnt open fully?) but id rather sacrifice a lil top end power and have power through the rev range.. You still feel the power kick in on a fully working PV just not like a pinned PV cos its soo sudden..
Pinned open makes it sound soooo much better tho.. It will put a grin on your face for 10 mins then you'll want the PV working again!
