right.. i have a 2003 DT125R, ive done the clock deres, ive got a gutted standard exhaust on my bike atm.
i rebuilt the top end on it 1000 miles, really good compression
im thinking and couple of people ive asked are thinking i might have a carb problem..
when i stop from riding, it idles at 3k and wont go down and then it goes down and then back up sometimes, maybe a sticky float.
and also after 9k its reallyyyyy slow, sometimes to goes to 9.5 then backs off and goes down then back up, pees me off, when im hooning it im actually better off changing gear at 9k rather than 10k...
it pulls to 75 quickly and then the last 5 mph (which is just over 9k) is reaaaaaly slow .. and TBH its not the fact i want it quicker.. well it might be.. its just the fact i know that it does it and it pees me off! SO what you reckon?
its worth checking your carb. take it off check its all okay. clean the jet and all the pipes in the carb. then reset everything to factory settings and work from there. if you need the settings ill tell you on msn.
ALSO, my inlet manifold has been fecked with, its been all chavvered out, you reckon its worth getting a new replacement one? they arent meant to be ****ed with and its reduces top end power apparently..
My Project DT also sticks at 3k revs, if i stick it in first and bring the clutch to the biting point it then settles to around 1500 rpm, Really annoying. Ive fully cleaned the carb, checked needle, jets etc and it still does it! :(
Mine does this too, I just give it a few revs with the clutch in and wait for it to settle again, I also have a bit of a grabby clutch maybe heavy duty springs installed not sure but it's reassuring to know not only me with this problem :D
maybe its the ht lead a friend of mine on a different bike had a simliar problem cut it back and it was fine but if ur going to do this make sure u leave enough on it to reconect it
