Engine bearings
Permalink

Hi, got myself a dt project for £120 the other day, it needs a full engine overhaul. Also needs some work doing to it as I bought it as a stolen recovered bike, so it's obviously had a bit of abuse. Will need a new frame if I want to get it on the road.

So I got round to splitting the cases to find chicken korma oil (some water seems to have got into the gearbox)

That's basically destroyed the balancer shaft bearing, when I took the cover off it was just moving all over the place. So basically need somewhere that sells that bearing, or the exact sizes of the bearings if anyone could help?

Also having some trouble getting the cog off the balancer shaft, anyone know exactly how to get it off, doesn't want to shift at all.

Cheers

As alway's when buying bearings...Remove them and take them to a local bearing shop and they'll no doubt have them in stock cheaper than yamaha/general bike shops.

If you can't find a shop local, the bearing will have numbers stamped into it. This number is all you need to order replacement from somewhere like Simply bearings

You'll have to jog my memory on the balancer shaft cog ? can you post a pic of exactly what's stuck ? (been a little while since i last stripped one)

Not Impossible ...

To get it back on the road ....

You got a visible engine number ???

Assuming you got no frame numbers any more ???

By far the easiest way is to buy frame & logbook, then re-frame it all !

Explain your prob' to DVLA, see if they can trace engine number & tell you if ID used elsewhere !?
