whats the best way to check that the pump is working with out starving the engine of oil...

Pull out the metal bit that's connected to the pipe that goes into the inlet,
Cover the inlet hole so no air or other $hit gets dragged into it,
Start her up and hopefully there should be some oil coming out of the pipe, if not try revving it abit and if some comes out then you know to adjust the cable nut things, if no oil comes out try bleeding the oil pump again
Thats the way i would do it, requires abit of pi$$ing about mixing the pre-mix and draining the tank and what not, but then again it is the safest way to check it because there isnt a chance of it not getting any lubrication
start it and pul the 2 stroke pipe pof the manafold i would not leave it of anylonget than say 3 minits tho you need to block the hole or it will afect air fuel ratio better still use a clear pipe for you 2 stroke
