Right ppl need a difinative answer to this one !
im wanting to fit head on barrel before fittin onto conrod as ive no room to get torque wrench onto front head stud when fitted to torque it down as frame gets in the way of wrench, was hoping i could do this by fittin piston into barrel then offer head n barrel as one piece onto conrod then just slip gudgeon pin thru obviously id fit opposit side circlip into piston first any comments advice would be apreciated !! cheers Dave

I have no idea if it'll fit as one piece (doubt it) but either way it's a pointless exercise.

Been doing top end rebuilds for YEARS and have always cranked them down with a spanner and never once had any trouble because of it.

If you do try it though post up and let us know if it fits or not... as someone else will no doubt ask this same question.

The shop that did my rebore fitted my piston with rings and I couldnt be arsed messing with rings so I put the top end together and then attached the piston, was slightly more difficult as its obviously added weight but its possible.

Also you would struggle to tighten the bolts enough without damaging the barrel, as you'd have to clamp it or something..

When I collected mine all was seperate but the guy in shop offered to put the rings on the piston for me, could have done it myself like but it was good to see how it was done proper, plus it took him no more than 30 seconds.

Shame you couldn't pick it up, that's proper crap!
