Misfire at high revs after off roading

A week or so ago i put the trail wheels back on my dt and did 2 days off roading on it. It was fine both days but got extremley muddy. It took me about 20 mins hosing to get the mud / clay off!!

Since then my bike has developed a missfire in the high rev range. At first it only did it in gears 3 and upwards but now its doing it in all gears.

Ive tried a different spark plug which made no difference, ive checked the air filter that looks all clean etc, ive soaked all elec connections and spark plug cap with wd40. Im thinking it could be some **** got in the carb while off roading or ive soaked somet electrical whilst hosing it down but it could be somet totally different.

Anyone got any ideas? Im thinking maybe iginiton coil as my old pit bike did the exact same thing and that was the I.C

Maybe your HT lead is damp mate, take it off and put it on a radiator overnight smile.gif

Ive ran a couple of tank ov fuel thru her since the problem started tho, could it still be water in the carb?

Think i should whip the carb off and clean it out anyway tbh!

Open the float bowl drain screw and see what comes out...

I've just drained the carb, will see if it's any better in a bit!

I'd go with damp ht lead/damp coil. My Dt did the same when it got wet when i first got it, i now spray it with some holts stuff that seals it.

Cheerz woll that confirms my thoughts aswell.

Ill whip em off and leave em over a rad for a nite and see how i go after that. It does seem to be getting worse tho.

are you useing the standard dt ht cap i had problems with mine holding water so i changed it to a rubber ngk one

@ woll yeh ive tried a different spark plug was still the same.

@ robin yeh im using a standard spark plug cap but ive sprayed wd40 inside the cap and it made no difference.

Well somet strange happened today but im not complaining!! I was flyin down an industrial estate jumping off the speed bumps and when i got back onto the main road the misfire had disapeared!!!

Ive got my fingerz crossed it stays fixed, lol!!
