Well ive had to pull the head off my bike again so i thought a comparison shot was in order.

just wonder what is the difference between the 2 of these performance wise if any, both are 4fu heads. but 1 is a Y-3 and the other a Y-1, both are labelled as such

Y-3 gives more PSI, DeeTee (someone on the site) did a compression test.

Y-3 is off a TZR125RR which is 33 bhp, its one of the pieces that make it that much power

well purposedly anyways...

the one with the groove in the combustion chamber is a horrible yamaha restriction! i had a 3bn head on mine with a ugly squish band like that, to add to this does anybody know is there a difference to other heads or is there just two basic squish bands - restricted/normal

i had both the one with the weard squish abn on dt and the newer one dint make no difrence tbh

Heres the thread, gives around an extra 10 PSI, must be a difference somewhere.

Also that one DeeTee bought and shows in that thread, is a Y-2?

found a good link for it http://www.dt125.de/Forum/thread.php?threadid=92424, probs won't do much on its own but the extra compression should help a bit low down and flatter a flatter wider squish apparently is better for peaky motors, from that link the 4fu unrestricted head looks like it has a extra taper on the squish band which is a bit more like newer style heads ie the one on here http://www.stanstephens.com/street.htm but obviously not even in the same league

off the german dt forum, tonnes of info on dt/tzr/athena heads! i've made a link that should translate it to readableish english


good forum, some of the people on there are experimenting with squeesing upto 300 cc out of the standard motor!
