I have the standard haynes recommended NGK-r BR9ES plug in my DTR, just wondered if there are any upgraded alternatives available??7

As our KTM uses an iridium one.

ask at halfrauds or a bike shop, lots of different types of spark plug, would keep to same size and heat rating unless your runing a really tuned engine, probs won't really notice a difference though

im not expecting any power gains etc, I just wanted to know why the KTM uses an iridium and the DTR doesnt, and would it have a longer life and produce a more efficient spark.

You've hit the nail on the head Katie-Jay - longer life and more efficient spark.

Great, so does anyone know the NGK ref for the iridium plug compatible for the DTR?

A br9 eix will work fine in a dt. It's only a slightly cooler plug than a br8 eix everything else is the same.

I beg to differ, according to the trusty haynes (page 94), and my local Yamaha dealer, its a BR9 recomended for the DT.

My appologies, in my manual it says only BR9 for DT
Its says either BR8 or BR9 for TZR

as a dt is not a tuned engine as such i prefer to run a 8 as it runds cleaner imo and les chance of it fouling up

As I earlier explained, appologies if I had it wrong, I was going off reference of the trusty haynes (page 94), and my local Yamaha dealer, which stated a BR9 is recomended for the DT.

BR8 or BR9 for TZR
