Hey, just wondered if you guys could help me out.

I bought my DT with a head gasket problem but it did run, now I've replaced the head gasket and also replaced the clutch case gasket as this was also leaking.

Now I've got it all back together and been kicking the thing over all day and it wont start, it fires now again with the odd backfire, there also seems to be a fair bit of dark gray oily/petrol dripping from the exhaust manifold.

I have a good spark and I've replaced the plug, checkrd the mixture. I might strip the carb and give it a clean tomorrow and see if that helps.

So if anyone has any ideas why it won't start or why im getting oily gunk dripping from the exhaust manifold I'd love to hear them.

Kev

Well after stripping the carb I found the main jet was full of crap so after stripping and cleaning the rest of the carb I refitted still wouldn't start!

After a bit of head scratching I found I had lost my spark while sorting the carb??? so I changed the coil checked the resistance on the pulse coil and the stator, checked kill switch and ignition switch and that just leaves the bloody cdi unit.

So if anyone has one kicking about let me know.

Mine is the same as this one courtesy of botty92
