Spluttery at 7000rpm?

Just after a little bit of help and advice gents, I've had my DTR a little over a week, and I love it, brilliant fun to ride around on, and I'm getting more fun out of it than I used to get on my Mito!

However, I have recently found that in most gears, moreso in fifth and sixth, when I get to 7000rpm it coughs splutters and struggles. I haven't done a compression test as of yet, but I dont think the rings need changing or anything. If I let the bike hang between 7-8000rpm then I can eventually get it to push past the barrier in that gear, but if I want to carry on like that i have to smash the tits off it all the way through the rev range.

I'm hazarding a guess that the powervalve blade might need cleaning?

The other thing I wanted to know is, how can i find out if it has been completely and correctly de-restricted? I'm guessing its the usual routes of exhaust (I have a 2003 DTR with a full dep system) and carb jets, but what are the de-restricted sizes?

Also, is there supposed to be any sort of airbox mod when de-restricting? After scouring the internets for details on this I've found a few good nuggets of information, but no real definitive guide. Unless I didnt look hard enough and I'm missing something... lol

I do remember reading something about a wire that needs disconnecting somewhere? Not sure if that applies to my particular model.

Any help is much appreciated, cheers gents.

Im sure I remember reading about a similar problem on this forum a couple of months ago. Go back a few pages and i think it was suggested it was a PV problem.  If that doesnt work, it sounds like it could be running a bit rich on the midrange so check that the needle clip is in the central slot. It could be on a lower slot. Good luck and hope this helps.

Okay cheers for the help so far, I'll see if I can track down that thread, that's fair enough if I need to upjet, but to what sizes?

Cheers
