Smaller front sprocket
Permalink

Hi, has anyone here put a 14 or 15 teeth sprocket on your DT?
How much did the acceleration increase? How lower is top end speed?
I'm interested in changing front sprocket on my DTX, due to more acceleration.
Thanks for answers

I know that some of you have put 15t sprocket, but I'm thinking of 14t. But have some doubts about top speed.

14 , i would say on a road would be ragging it , as it would scream like **** easy , which you dnt want really , unless you dnt go that far like me ,as i live in a city so its all built up 20mph roads ect.

I need about 70 miles/h. Will 14t reach it?
I live in a city, so I'm not going to travel with my DT, I need more acceleration for offroad/onroad rides.

Well.. still can't make a choice between.confuse
60 mph is too low, 70 mph at least wanted. Then maybe I will have to stick to 15t.
Thanks man  wink

Yeah, but the matter is, I don't live in the UK, so shipping to Lithuania costs 10 pounds.

Seiki, did you do any restrictions to it? Tu my DTX I only gutted the exhaust. With 17t and 57t my top speed was 84mph.

I have full DEP and that's the only restriction my bike had. Also have servo.

I ran alonside my mate once and he clocked me at 80 on flat. 14 front 57 rear. Takes off like a jet though and I weigh quite a bit.

It's been on a 210 jet all year which I prob should have changed

Oh, thanks for reply.
Than maybe I won't lose much speed. What do you think: with 14 and 57 will I have al least 70mph?
Thanks

Yeah I reckon it shoud do that easy, i'm shocked to hear DT's go any slower tbh.

I love acceleration, could care less about top speeed tbh as  live in London and it's useless here. Tricky keeping the front wheel down but it's fun.

I'm interested in power wheelies. As I understood, with 14t on front it easy done? :D
I live in a small city, so speed is quite important to me. As I said, I need about 70 mph. So not so much.

I also have the bigass 520 conversion which i'm sure slows me down a bit but I know for a fact it got up 80 and would have done more. I've raced an 04 DT and left it but i'm not sure of his setup.

Not sure exactly the difference going higher but it's not that hard to experiment

i have standard back sprocket and size 15T front and have full DEP and have wacked Power valve open (earthed the wire)!

Changing the front sprocket from size 15T made a huge difference for my personally it does about 80 mph flat out but wheelies in 1st and 2nd without dumping the clutch!

Before it went off the clock which is 85+ mph....

I would be tempted to get a size 14T for the DTX because it is supermoto and would be good fun doing wheelies on imobiggrin

BTW i payed £5 for the sprocket from a local yammy dealer (brand new)

Cool mate :D
That is what I need. I need to be able to do wheelies without clutch. I'm going offroad this year, and I need acceleration.
At the beginning was thinking about 15t, but as you said, I won't lose so much speed as I feared, so will take 14t one.

Going to take this one. Or is it a bad choice? I know nothing about JT sprockets and their quality.
