After seeing a recent thread about cleaning your power valve and the difference it makes im gonna give mine a clean today, do i need to remove the exhaust to get the p/v out / back in , or do i just slide it out the side . do i need to realign it or will it only fit back in one way. Thinking about it i may as well clean the carb and reed block - how do i get the reed block .
Yeah you'll need to have the exhaust off, if you have the manual, its pretty straight forward instructions as to how you do it.
One thing I didn't know is you have to split the powervalve to have it off. There is a cap you remove, where the exhaust expansion goes past the head, when you remove the cap there is an allen bolt that goes through the powervalve, you'll need to lock the powervalve in position like it states in the manual (I think the diagram shows a drillbit, but I used an allen key) and undo that allen bolt. But be careful as there are two locating dowels where the halves of the powervalve meet, and you don't want to lose them!
I found removing the carb to be a bit of a fiddly job, it would probably be best if you undo the jubilee clips that hold the carb on to the airbox and inlet manifold, then temporarily undo the airbox so you can remove the carb and hang it out of the way. You can then bolt the airbox back in place, and remove the manifold and reed cage a lot easier as you'll have plenty of room to move about.
Hope this helps :)
