Depends which oil you happen to be leaking and where from mate!

Tips are the following:

Use the best 2-stroke oil, most recommend Castrol TTS (now knows as Castrol racing 2-Sroke oil)

Always warm the bike up for a good 5 minutes before riding, take the first mile or so at lower speeds to get the engine up to temp.

Keep the important bits clean and well lubricated.

Get yourself some spare spark plugs, it'll pay off in the future and isn't expensive!

May be worth investing in a compression tester as well, this is a good and quick way to test out the condition of the top end of your engine!

And welcome to the forum! Why not pop a post in the 'N00bs' section, let us know a little about yourself and put some pics of the bike up :)

Welcome to the site Jack :)

It's not leaking from the drainage bolt is it, bottom of the right crankcase cover?

Just to let you all know, this is my old bike smile.gif

I had a very slight 2 stroke oil leak from where the oil pump meets the clutch cover but it was hardly noticeable and was there when i bought the bike. Also the exhaust gasket leaks a bit which is like black oil/sludge but i used to clean it off once a week or so never bothered me. From what I know when i had it there is no gear oil leak.

How u getting on with it? You had the v5 back back yet?

I think its the exhaust gasket mate if its black, proberly best to put a new exhaust gasket on there only £2 off ebay and its really simple to do. I changed it not long before you bought it but it was a copper gasket and it never sealed very well tbh.

Glad ur gettin on ok with it and that you have got the v5 back in your name. Have you changed the front tyre yet? If not i no a bloke who does part worns cheap in wolverhampton. He fits them free aswell smile.gif

Yeh should be ok now. Did you notice one thread which the exhaust goes on is thicker than the other? My Dad had to re-tap the cylinder and put a slightly thicker stud and nut on as the thread went when i took the exhaust off ages ago!

Ahhh gutted, is it flat on the front or back? I had a puncture on the back about 6 months ago and had a new innertube put in it. The front innertube has been in there since i had the tyres fitted on the SM rims bout 10 months ago unless you had a new one put in with the new front tyre.
