Well Pat, to be honest I haven't really changed that much engine wise, the bottom end had new bearings and seals last year, the top end I had rebored 2.4mm, oversize, using a Mitaki TZR 2mm oversize piston, and shoved a 240 main jet in the carb, from 210, I think the main reason it sounds so crisp, is the fact I stubbied the DEP end box, but also I cleaned the baffle right up, and re-packed with new soundproofing material, so it were like new, I dare say that after a few weeks, the end box will get some carbon build up inside, making it sound less tinny, but am happy the carb seems responsive enough, on the throttle, just need to fine tune the carb, so it idles around 1400, instead of about 1700-2000.

Cheers Coos, aye I did think about the radiator louvres, but I'll wait and see how Steves come out, I reckon, although I'm deffo going to spray the brake reservoir top green, it sticks out like a sore thumb, in blue.

Well I've finally got round to the second stage of my project which is to SuperMoto it, have managed to find a set of Paoli TDR forks, Brembo front caliper, and a set of TDR stainless spoked wheels, 18" front 17" rear, I'll use the 17" rear till I can sort out and powdercoat an 18" rim and hub, then lace it up with some stainless spokes.
Picking it all up end of the month from Bristol. From what I gather I just have to sort out a speedo cable as the DT one is different to the TDR one at the speedo drive. The chap flogging it says it's got decent Dunlop Arrow Max tyres on the wheels, has anybody used these type on their bike? or do I need to source some other better tyres?

Cheers Nev

Picked up wheels, forks and brembo caliper, all came with spindle and speedo unit, not sure if DT spacer will fit or not, deffo need the inspection rubber for the caliper much bigger than the DT one, and a speedo cable, all off a c1990-1992, TDR 125R ITALIA model, but having a job to find a parts list for a TDR that early, so as to price up bits.

Gave the wheels a bit of a tickle up,for saying the wheels are 20 odd years old very good nick, and the stainless spokes are like new, rims slightly scraped, but nothing a rattle can of black gloss and green rim tape won't sort outmind.

Well chuffed cheers Jerry mate
Hoping there may be a TDR owner out there may help me out, regardng info/ parts?

All cleaned and sprayed, just waiting on the rim tape

That's shizz man, mines like half the size, no issues yet, just try and explain to them that larger ones snap off easy, and if you can get the letters original size on a smaller plate you should be fine!

Lmao seriously Nev mate? God, you've got it bad down there with the porkers! Looking great mate i'm well chuffed you've decided to go Sumo with her :)) stripped the bike down today turns out it wasn't the kickstart that was knackered, it was the bloody piston and cylinder ha, scored cylinder and half the piston ring had disintergrated. Ahhh bugger, time for a rebore and oversize me thinks! Gives me a chance to try and polish the exhaust port side of my xpanny anywho.

Cheers Steve, reckon it needs that green rim tape still, to finish it off, and am toying with the idea of getting the letters SM in fancy black graphics for that green strip on the tank, the more I look at it

Good man!

Aye i wouldn't even think about ragging my baby on a dyno with a fresh engine! Btw mate make sure your Dyno tester is a good'un! Cause i've heard that running a 2-smoke on a dyno can damage the engine due to lack of engine breaking if the dyno tester is a pleb ofcourse! wink
