does anyone know if i could fit a tzr flywheel with the starter cluch onto a dtre bottom end??

what im trying to do is get the lights running on my bike.

its running a 2006 dtre engine on a 1992 wiring loom and cdi atm.

anyone know if the older tzr flywheel would fit.

this one on ebay for example.

thanks

Darren

not sure m8 but i brought a tzr clutch basket to replace my fooked one think there the same but the hole in the centre was too small and it wouldnt fit onto the shaft, so i wouldnt like to say itll fit coz of my experiance with tzr parts.
wouldnt it be easier to fit one from an re engine that has elec start? wats wrong with the one you got atm??

ive already got the re 1 fitted and running but as my loom and cdi is a 1992 the lighting coil wires are different.

ive tested the wires with a multimeter and even joined wires together from the stator coi;l to get the lights running but they dont seem to work correctly.

so the plan was to get a tzr flywheel as i would be able to use a 3mb stator coil on the re engine and get my lights up and running.

Don't know if it will help but I had a TZR engine in my DT and the crank shaft is smaller, to run the 3MB flywheel/stator I had to remove the starter clutch ect to get it on the taper without it pulling up tight against the crank case, then I had to modifiy the pulser coil so it reached the repositioned flywheel.

do you mean smaller in diameter or length. i am assuming you mean length as you had to remove the starter clutch to get it to go on right.

you dont happen to have any dimensions of the tz flywheel do you.

as i think it should do the job.

with mine being a dt model i think the length of it wont be a problem.

if anything were to give me a problem i assume it would be the starter clutch on the tz flywheel matching the dt starter as in lining up right.

thanks

Darren

Yeah I think the TZR crank was shorter or could of been the hole in the 3MB flywheel being slightly bigger and sitting further up the taper.

Unfortunatly I don't have the TZR flywheel to take any measurments.

Darren wat u using to remove the flywheel? A puller or another method? I wanted to get mine off today to see if it's all ok in ther (was avin a nightmare with electrics), I welded 2 Allen keys to a beefy metal bar (pneumatic hammer drilling bit thing lol) to hold the flywheel still while I removed the nut but I couldn't get the flywheel off the crank for ****, n I couldn't bring myself to tap it any harder with me hammer lol!

make a puller or buy one or borrow one

i use my impact gun to take the nut off it comes straight off no messing. then i use a rubber mallet to whack the flywheel as it wont damage with it being rubber then a quick wiggle and its off.

you can get a cheap impact gun from machine mart for around £25 that connects to battery or cigarette lighter.

makes easy work on flywheel and clutch baskets.

and basicly what im trying to acheive is,  i have a 1992 wiring loom/cdi and magneto/stator.

and a dtre engine done 1200 miles only from new.

i want to keep the starter intact as it would be too much hastle removing it and capping the hole off.

and eventually i am going to use a 2002 loom and 3rm-20 cdi i have to get the 5 wire servo motor going.

i have the dtre engine running perfect on my 1992 loom and cdi but as the lighting/charging wires are all white on the newer dtre generator i cannot plug it straight into the 1992 loom or the 2002 loom as the wires are black white yellow.

i have tried testing the wires from the new generator with no success. so my other option is use the older stator generator with a tzr flywheel.

now the older generator/stator bolts straight onto the flywheel casing on the dtre engine

but as the generator is much bigger inner diameter on the dtre i am going to need a flywheel with starter gear and generator spacers from a tzr/tdr if it will fit my dtre crank exactly like this 1

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TZR125-generator-flywheel-sprag-clutch-TZR125-4HE-/350450630721?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item51987c4041

you see the spacers on the inside of the flywheel so it lines up correctly with the older generator.

ok flywheel came this morning and after an hour of modifiying the way the wires were routed on the back of a 3mb stator generator and fitting the flywheel the bike is sat ticking over nicely with all light running and the battery charging system working.

so i have acheived what i set out to do.

2006 dtre engine running a 1992 3rm wiring loom and 1992 3nc cdi with the starter motor still attached if i wish to add electric start in the future.

the tzr flywheel and starter clutch was a perfect match for the crank and a 3mb stator generator.
