This was bought very cheap as a box of bits.

Roughly slung whats there together to get an idea of whats needed.

LOTS was the answer.

So it may get restored, it may not. We'll see how much money i want to throw at it.

Things are mainly just resting as it seems to be missing all fixings!

Updates as it happens but nothing much will happen untill i get the V5 (hopefully)

Ok, will do.

Cant do much without spending money, which i wont do untill i have a V5, but took the top end off to check it all out. Seems ok, but bone dry. Obviously not run for a while.

Plans for this bike are...

Blasted and clear powdered frame, YZ rear swing arm, rear disc conversion, YZ USD front forks, TZR125 or 250 3 spokes, white plastics/tank, black seat and release as much power as i can from the motor.

Might possible build some custom wire wheels for it , rear rim on front hub and a wider rim on the rear.

YZ forks/swinger might have to wait for a phase 2 build if i end up spending more than i think getting it running.

Im going to have to make a new loom, will probably only run a speedo and as i have no switchgear i might get a new, universal, all in one job designed for making crossers road legal.

So lots to do but shouldnt take too long once i know i can go ahead.

This bike had a front disc brake anyway, first of the disc brake models.

As so much of it is broken/missing i'll treat it like making a crosser road legal, i.e. the miimum needed to get it MOT'd :)

LOL, i couldnt care less.

Ill get enough power out of this one for now.

When i was younger i had a kawasaki AR125 and my mate had an RD125lc, basicaly the same engine as this.

I had an indicated 98mph out of mine, he was maybe a smidge faster.

My bike was better off the lights though :)

Ill only run this for a year or so anyway, then ill get something bigger.

Unless my second car sells this weekend, then ill buy my wifes uncles 1976 Honda CB750 cafe racer.

Nice bike that, I had the K2 750/4 fully cafe racerfied (chopped rear end), marazocci shocks,4into 2 into 1 motad exhaust, T-bars, full custom paint job, went like stink, nice bike, so nice some b*stard stole it. Wish I'd still got it now mind, cafe racers are making a comeback.

It is a lovely bike, black with gold pinstriping.

Car ends on ebay this afternoon, it has 1 bid so looks like it will sell, which doesnt look like good news for the poor little DT.

Still couring ebay, but as well as looking for DT stuff im also looking at cb/cr750 stuff.

Could go either way, no licence yet so CBT amd DT125 or direct access and cb750.

I was quite surprised at the 75 quid a year insurance quote on the cb750!

On a cbt, they want 200 to insure the DT, probably as off road bikes are stolen so often.

It has the powervalve, but looks like it was never adjustable 'on the move', you just take the cover off and pin it in one of 3 possible possitions.

It was already fully open.

I do really like the DT, its proper cool. Will be a great laugh, but with all my plans ill probably end up throwing 6-800 at it if not more.

In total, it wont cost any more to buy the cb750!

no, thats one of the many missing parts unfortunately.

Ive sent for the log book now so cant do anything untill i hear back from that.

At least if its not nicked, and i decide to sell, ill get reasonable money for teh frame and V5.

I think the engine would be ok when re-assembled too.

Im getting a 125 for the wife, but she wants a late 80's sports 125. I keep trying to talk her into a DT but she's only 5 foot so theres no way she can reach the floor LOL.

Well, i bought the CB750.

So, wont be building the DT project unfortunately.

However, i bought teh CB from my wifes uncle and him getting teh DT was part of the deal, he's going to build it, so every now and then ill try and post picks of his preogress.

No doubt he'll do a top job on it if the CB750 he built, then sold to me is anything to go by!

Hello again :)

I got the V5 for the DT 2 weeks ago!

Well, at least its not nicked LOL.

Theres a possibility ill be keeping the DT too so its rebuild will start this winter.

Not sure what the current plans are, will depend on if the origional engine is any good.

If not then ill try and stick a 250 in it, i'd love to try and put a tzr250 motor in it and run twin exhausts but that may not be possible.

Will still get as many YZ bits as possible though. I believe the TDR basicaly had a tzr250 motor and the frame is pretty much dt ish (if you squint) so maybe not entirely impossible.

Overall idea is to build as mental a supermoto as i can. If i cant get a 250 in it ill try and track down an old 180cc kit for an RD125. It will be a week or so untill firm plans over ownership of this are settled but after that its full steam ahead.

If anyone has any dt125lc bits, or tzr, or yz, then let me know. Im going to be needing alot of stuff LOL.
