hi ive got a 1999 ktm lc2,they used a 1999 dt125r engine in it,it does about 70-75mph(im a big bloke so mite be a bit faster with someone smaller on it?)its quite nippy through the gears upto about 65-70mph,i disconected the servo today and pinned open the powervale, but it didnt make any differance(still no bands) rode exactly the same as before?ive had a compresion test done and its fine.

with the servo conected,it works ok,when i rev it up,the servo turns like it should, the valve opens, but carries on a bit past the open point,i even tried adjusting the cables so the powervalve stops at the open point, still nothing?

i only got the bike because i thought dtr, powerbands!!!!!!!

any idears please.

If ur pv is set up right it should perform better, when the pv is pinned open (like on mine) it has no power at the bottom up until 5 or so k then it rips hardcore , with the pv set up right u gain power at lower rpm then still get all that power at top , u should notice a difference somwer m8y

Somthing can't be right m8 , wen I first got my dt the pv was pinned half shut , good bottom end torque but lost all top end , as soon as I opened it up there was a massive difference , the difference could not be missed lol ,
Also have u found any fmf or any other a/m front pipes for ur bike??

Yeah that could be true, cause my servo works fine, you feel it lower down in the range then when you get into the higher range it sends a bolt of energy through you and the bike and you go into beast mode! wink

When I pinned my pv open I took the cables off, so they dont get in the way etc etc, by the way mate what have you pinned it open with, a long thin screw or bolt, have you checked thats the bolt or screw is still in the hole bit and havent popped out?

i disconected the cables(so the power valve turns freely), took the exhaust off, looked and felt up the port,to make sure the valve was open(the hole in the servo wheel that the cables go on and the whole on the side of the head matched up so i put a screw through them to pin it open, but it didnt make any difference for me cry.gif still no power bands.it goes exactly the same pinned open or useing the servo?

Take your powervalve out steve to see if it's full of crud and give it a good clean up.

Haa yes my servo broke so garage pinned mine open and I've had a full rebuild. Il take it up to 7k every now an then an the power is like a rush. Its. But bottom end is slow as but rideable and still good for running in my new engine. I must admit that having the full rebuild is well worth it. Engine sound mint.

Hmmm :\ Should really be using the PV when running a new engine. You'll put tromendous strain on the engine running it in with out the assisted power!

The YPVS isn't exactly the best design. It makes much more sense to do what Aprilia has done and have a cut in/out blade or the RAVE system. Instead of the circular motion.

a 22 cc hedge trimmer has a power band. and so does every engine. "power band" is a term used to describe the rpm range where the engine produces its best usable power

it makes me laff reading ebay listings where it says  "its so fast it will pull ur arms out its got powerbands in every gear"

ha ha a bike will only go as fast as u make it.....

you no the person selling it knows nothing about bikes and to steer clear, if they dont no the basics then theres a possibility they dont no how to look after the bike simple as

not all engine have power valves tho this is what confuses people, most modern 2 strokes have the power valve assembly, this is in place to make the most out of the small engine varying exhaust port timing to match engine rpms

and they mae a hell ov a difference, thus why people do the servo mod on older bikes as u get a completly different engine, if theres no change to your power out put id start investigating for other causes of the lack of power

mixture,plug,air leaks,crank seals,gaskets

smile

If u speak nicely to the postman, they leave quite a few red ones lying about in the street, they're nice and thick so should work well!!!!!!
