You checked the springs on the gear lever rod that goes all the way through the engine? Its underneath the clutch, might need aligning with the springs..

Oh and the other pushrod i'm almost certain you can't take it out from the clutch side of the engine..

Shouldn't be too hard, there is some springs holding the gear lever in place so it can change gear and what not, sounds like a spring has slipped off, not a hard job, easier then setting the clutch up properly anyway

by the posts i can see youv been havin a bad day m8
ahh so the lever the clutch cable attaches to has tension an reacts with the clutch basket when you move it .
so maybe its the footpeg gear selector playing up m8 i had to fiddle around with it for a bit till it was selecting gears theres a toothed wheel inside your clutch casing at the bottom left checked the hooked catch is engaging properly wen you move the pedal selector selecting your gears

Hmmmmmmmmm you two are sounding more like whats wrong with it, I think its a spring or something somewhere, but its driving me nuts now, cosat one stage yesterday the back wheel locked up so I couldnt move the bike at all, but somehow with the gear lever get it back rolling again, but after all this trouble I am gonna book it in the garage, cos I just want it back on the road now, been sitting there 2 weeks now like it and two weeks is too much on these sunny months, but thankyou soooooooo soooooooooo much for your help you been great smile.gif!!!!!

No worries mate but the locking up will be due to one of the springs coming off and it not engaging/disengaging a gear properly so it's stuck inbetween if you know what i mean?
If you lived closer i could have came down and had it done in in about 30-40 mins (including putting the side casing on and everything else of course) smile

Yeah it's a great shame mate as you Been so much help, right I think it's the return spring as it looks like it's hanging off when you look under the clutch basket, is there anyway way of getting the clutch basket off without using a 3 way pulley?? Once that's off can get to it cos my spring is not looking the same as in the manual, and I got a big feeling it's this, thanks once again gin mate it's people like you who keep me calm here haha cos it really does get annoying when you know it's something so small but it's finding it smile.gif

You're clutch doesn't need a 3 way pulley, it's just held on with a nut.
I've had a worse problem before and had to take the clutch off to get in there, what happened was the spring had broke so needed replacing, with 2 of us it took about 2 hours and we weren't really racing to finish it..

Slacken clutch cables off, take sidecasing off, take clutch off, sort the spring out, clutch on, jobs a good one haha

Make sure it's in gear if you're gonna take the clutch off though, otherwise the clutch will just keep spinning back and forth and you'll never get it off haha

Yes mate its deffo the return spring whats come off under the clutch basket, but me and my mate still couldnt get the clutch basket nut off in the middle yesterday, we put it in gear aswell but its still not coming off, I even rang up yamaha and they said yep to get it off you undone it ANTI-CLOCKWISE, and you wont get it off as you need the holding tool which is a right pain as I need it off asap

There has to be a way to get it off without that holding tool

I've never used a holding tool to get my clutch off, just had it in gear got someone to press on the back end (or the wheel would spin) and just really pressed down on the nut anti-clockwise..

You've made sure you've bent the washer behind the nut staraight so the nut can move haven't you?
If not that's what will be causing the nut to stay in place..

It is tight as fook but it can be done without the holding tool

Haha no worries mate, i hope you've got a bomb to spend wink It's probably just on so tight as it hasn't been budged in a very long time whereas mine was a 04 model and i did it in about 2010.. Or simply you're just not as strong as me biggrin hahaha

Either way mate i hope you're back on the road for a reasonable price

Since i've never been to Yam for anything doing i really can't say if it would be cheap or not. Although my local Yamaha dealer was gonna charge me what i thought was abit over the top for my front wheel bearings changing so i did them myself biggrin

Oh I should think the spring etc and all back together will be about 50 mate, I know I should do the rest myself with the gaskets and side casing on, but just got that cant be arsed attitude on at the moment, which of course isnt the way to be, but am like this cos the bikes been off the road now for 3 weeks and I have tryed and tryed, and still not got it so just said to them let them put it all back on
