From the way its going im gonna cut my losses with my dt and either get a car or another bike :/ however im trying a few more things it could be first........ theres a stator with coils on ebay, been tried on a 1997 dt to make sure its working fine tho mines a 3md bottom end engine (1998-1992)

Anyone know if it will work on my engine??

Thanks

hi mate. i might be able to help you out with a working stator coil. can you get yours off and post a pic of it and the connectors as i have 3 diff types here. also what model cdi unit are you using? do you know the model number?? (3nc- old style) (3rm-20 2000 - ) (1do... 2005-)

Right erm i got a 3RM-20 CDI, Newish 3RM bottom end engine with a 3BM top end.... as for the stator ill try getting that special tool off a mate so i can open it up and take a pic :) With all of these combinations of codes doesnt it matter that there all the same, has this been my problem?? lol

no mate it dont matter too much. a 3rm-20 cdi will wire up correctly to the older stator coils as they have the same amount/coloured wires. only difference really is the connectors which could be cut and joined with bullet conectors if you dont mind chopping the connectors off.

there is also 2 different types of flywheel pre 2005-dtre

theres the 3mb which is sort of a brass colour(rounded round the edge) which uses the old style stator with just 3 coils on.

then theres the other which is silver in colour and uses the 3rm stator which has multiple coils( think its 6)

both these stator plates have the same wiring setup and will work with your cdi. its just getting the right 1 to match your flywheel.

i will dig around and upload some pics if i get chance later on to explain clearer.

hi m8 some pics here for ya,

this is a 3mb flywheel

which uses the 3mb stator(3 coils)

and this is a 3rm flywheel

which uses the 3rm stator (7 coils)

now both stators will run your engine with your 3rm-20 cdi but obviously you need the right flywheel to match whichever stator you use ie. 3mb stator-3mb flywheel 3rm stator-3rm flywheel. as the 3mb flywheel has spacers on the back so it wont fit over the 3rm stator.as can be seen in the pic above.

hope this explains things abit more for ya.

Please People, Does anyone know, really trying to figure out why my bike isnt starting and jus trying to check the things it could be before i give up and sell up??? :/

Once again when i bought the dt i had to replace the bottom end with another one but 3rm.... My CDI's 3rm as well but because it didnt come with a generator i had to use my old one which is a 3bn coil and flyweel and from then on ive never heard the dt ticking over or running???

could this be my problem why the bike isnt starting due to the different coded parts on it???

Would be much appreciated if someone could let me know :)
