2 cylinders an threaded studs
Permalink

went to replace my top end gasket today as i was boiling a little water blowin the top off the expansion tank.

finished putting it all together doing up the final top nut an it tugged the stud right up through sealed top of the nut pinged off . so the cylinders internal thread is stuffed peein out water

so  got to it put on the standard bore top end an piston  did up the final front nut   an guess what same again   stud pulls striaight through ruins my cylinders thread

now im stuck out cant get home without a 5 mile walk   bulliks

needing another clyinder  to match of of my pistons at standard   or a +1.50  now   desperatly.

An im not a happy chappy   tempted to take 2 litres of water an let it pizz out everywhere  to get home still

all cylinders need to be bored exactly to the piston because no two pistons are the same, otherwise piston will be sloppy to bore or to tight. although i do have a barrel forsale standard bore but needs rebore and has a drilled hole init (more info on my thread) gud luck

got it home anyway bit of an ordeal stopped the leak anyway but it runs like a bag o crud at the mo the standard piston dont really fit big gap.. how bad is your top end m8 could i run it anyway or is it nailed.
iv been havin a search online for a rebore service close by with no luck is it costly do ya know.

this cylinder iv knacered with +1.50 runs perfect an is in good nick with a fitting piston too , the left side top studs completly stripped the thread out of the cylinder barrel.. i really wana try an sort it out somehow

Nice one fella exactly the kinda thing i was lookin for cheers m8, not a clue on how to use one but ill work that out.
still gonna have to buy a backup lump i think dont like all the stress of it breaking
i got 2 engines 2 dts an not one works properly at the mo.
this ones good though i can sort this now tomorow safe man,
the others still not likein starting of the kick no matter how good the top end is the bottom end is a nobhed. may just get rid to increase my funds would make a good engine its solid sounds fine when it actually starts , gotta be a coil or stator

them white tin gaskets aint to great are they i got 2 runs outta the last one an it problably went straigh away as it boiled cooant from the day the top end got done

these ones are by athena

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-YAMAHA-TDR-125-TDR125-TOP-END-GASKET-SET-ALL-YEARS-/350110065787?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item51842fa47b

they are made in the same factory as the genuine ones with the same materials

£19 i know but still better than £26...... plus you get exhaust and base gaskets aswell

you should be able to buy the genuine one from any bike shop (they might have to order it so could take three days )

julian soper motorcycles near me sells them for £11 so you should be able to get it cheaper than £26

good luck fella
