Pegged open or buy a servo

When i went to my garage I asked about havin a servo put back on but the bloke said I dont need one of them it tames them down and lose alot of power!! I was like yeah but I dont have any power in the bottem end unless Im in the band all the time. So while the garage think its better havin it pegged open am i wrong in thinking in puttin a servo back on?

The garage are right and wrong.
putting the servo on in factory position will give you power all through range,but wont open fully at high revs, so in theory you will lose a bit top end. but you can then adjust it to work fully, there are guides online bud.

+1. The power valve and servo is designed to give you a spread of power through the rev range and assuming it is set up correctly will not affect the top end speed. If it is pegged open without a servo you will lose some bottom end and have more of a power band towards the top end of the rev range. Depends on what you prefer.

only plus side to a pegged open pv is that its cheap. you gain nothing top end from having it pegged open over a fully functioning servo. the loss of bottom end tho will be alot and youl be riding the clutch everywhere

yeah im riding mine thata way little double clutch flick an whoosh your off... id like a working servo but i do prefer the fun in the ride a lot more pegged open

yeah this is a hard choice for me and the cost for me to have it put in as i have no idea how to put them in. Id have to watch someone do it before id even give it ago myself.

the bike will soun nicer two, btw the powervalve does fully open with a servo

This is part of what i was reading up, based on an 03 bike:

"Your machine will need it's powervalve turning round so it sits flush with the outlet port (exhaust off, look up the port and adjust the cables to the powervalve. It may need turning 180 degrees in which case take the cables and plastic cam off, turn 180 and pop them back on)."

Until i get and fit my servo, i wont know for sure!
